My Writing Space

I spend a lot of time at my desk – being a freelance writer, blogger and aspiring author means I can be found on it at any time of day. I do take the recommended breaks but I can often spend hours at my desk working to deadlines or catching up with blog comments. I wanted to share my writing space with you today because I have seen other posts about it and I love those kind of posts – give me a what’s on my desk/what’s in my bag etc any day!

My desk is a little messy. I am constantly adding and removing things from the desk and it probably does need a tidy up again soon, however I wanted to be totally honest with you so didn’t remove anything before taking the picture.

So what is in my writing space? At the top left is my lip product storage – lip balms, lip glosses and any other lip product (including my barely touched lipsticks) are in the drawers. I keep my most used lipsticks in the acrylic holder on top. There is also a canvas of Jack on the day he was born behind and then some dry shampoo, room spray, my Caudalie Beauty Elixir, various hand creams and lip balms that I am currently using and my Look Beauty Lip Smoothie.

Next to it is my selection of money saving and money making books – I’ve reviewed them on Keene On Saving here. An extra battery for my phone is precariously perched on top. I also have a random beer glass that I won which holds my pens and a couple of candles (one cheap, one Summer Scoop Yankee Candle). On the shelf where my (dusty, oops) monitor is, you can find my little chalk heart that Jack loves to scribble on, some paper for random notes and the baby monitor.

Onto the really messy part – from the left I have random bits of paperwork that I am sorting through, a USB, my hairbrush, a diary and various sample sachets that I am trying to use up. On the bottom left is my notepad that we were given at Britmums and a notepad from my Mum. I write blog post ideas in the notepad from my Mum and then notes on upcoming blog posts in the Britmums one.

Finally, just behind my keyboard is my blogging schedule. I also keep a digital schedule on Google Drive but I have finding it written down in front of me helps too. I will often change things up but this does help to remind me of what needs doing – I even include my freelance deadlines in here as well as my own diary!

I would love to see your writing spaces..have you done a post like this?

  1. My writing space is everywhere as I use a laptop with a lap tray – so I actually do alot of blogging in bed especially when poorly. This can be handy though, as it's also where my beauty stuff is 🙂 I do plan though on paper in my filofax – othewise I end up whiling away hours on twitter instead of working.

  2. My writing space is in my study room. Basically I use it when hubby is not working in there.

  3. lovely post , I want to do one too now 🙂 I don't have a dedicated writing space I use my dining table to sit n tinker away. I would love to have my own space it will help me think more clearly . I keep a planner n pen next to my laptop and make notes etc and plan posts. Manjiri – http://sliceoffme.wordpress.com/

  4. Interesting you have a blogging schedule! Maybe I should have one rather than just squeezing it in here and there! You've inspired me!

    1. I can't take credit for it – Helen from Beautifully Superfluous and Becky from Becky Bedbug inspired me 🙂
