Since last week’s post, we have been made aware that lockdown will be lasting for at least another three weeks. So prepare yourself for three more weeks of us asking you how you’ve been getting on. This was a wonderful idea from Sarah, inspired by Jenni from Lyrical Host {affiliate link} and I am so glad that Sarah asked me to be a part of it.
Steve has been at work this week (he is a keyworker in a school) and is working on a shift style basis with his boss. One week on, one week off. He has got the next week off so I cannot wait for more family time and some more delicious food cooked by him – check out my Instagram for some shots of the delicious meals he’s been making – I even shared the Hunter’s Chicken recipe on this very blog!.
So I’ll get to it and give you my answers for this week. Why not answer the questions for yourself and link up with us?
1) How are you feeling/coping?
I am alright. It has been a little boring doing the same day in day out but we’ve also enjoyed some fun family time which we don’t always get.
2) What are you doing to keep yourself occupied?
Reading again. Writing and scheduling blog posts. Doing my virtual assistance work and helping Steve in the kitchen when he’s cooking. Also a lot of home based tasks – those menial ones you hate doing at any other time but now at least they are something for you to do during the long days!
3) How are you dealing with everything at the moment – are you self-isolated, going out for essentials etc? Has this changed?
I popped out last Monday to Aldi for some essentials – and did a fairly large shop – but apart from that have been indoors. Jack came out in a rash last week so I’ve been staying in with him. Steve’s popped to the shop a couple of times around his work and also went to the pharmacy a few times – first time to ask their advice regarding Jack’s rash (they gave Piriton and calamine lotion) and again once we’d had a video appointment with the nurse who prescribed a medicated moisturising cream and hydrocortisone cream. Thankfully it now seems to be disappearing. We believe he had a reaction to something but are unsure what new thing it could be so have stopped him from using or doing them until this clears up. Then we will slowly reintroduce so we know exactly what he is allergic to.
4) What advice do you have for others?
Stay at home and keep safe. I am going to say this every week because I don’t think any other advice really needs to be given.
5) What have you bought this week that others might like? Especially if from a small business.
I’ve bought a couple of gifts – a few from a random act of kindness thread Tanya posted on Twitter and a few others for people in Leanne’s group, Gifting & Uplifting Women of the UK. I’ve also bought some fairly uninteresting home stuff we need such as hand towels, bath mats, cutlery trays, a paddling pool for the kids. Stuff that we needed and stuff for the kids to have fun with!
6) How has your routine been this week? (Question by Don’t Cramp My Style)
We haven’t had much of a routine except the kids watching a film in my room every night before bed. They get to chill out in our cosy and comfy bed whilst I get to have some peace and quiet. All change now that we are back to doing home learning!
7) Have you planned anything for once lockdown is over in the past 7 days?? (Question by Don’t Cramp My Style)
I’ve got a few friends coming over when lockdown is over – they’ve all said they would love to see the new house and have a few drinks and stay over. So why not? We’re also getting a puppy – this was all in place before lockdown so we’re hoping to be able to get it soon. Drewmies is my go to guide for pet information!

I think making plans for when lockdown is over is a great idea. We all need something to look forward too. I’m staying in and only venturing out to shop when I have too.
I haven’t got any post lockdown plans, to be honest I have loved having everyone home, and making the most of the extra family time. I will be a little sad when it is all over, though as someone with a chronic illness, lockdown life isn’t much different to ‘normal’ for me.
My wife and I should make some plans, even if they’re small. Living in a hotel until our house is done, we really don’t want to go somewhere and stay in a hotel! Knowing us, we’ll probably become temporary hermits in our new home, with the occasional going outside to work on my memorial garden or to do yard work.
I am loving this linky. I am glad the rash is now under control there is nothing worse having something wrong and being stuck in able to get it checked, thank god for video chats. x
The lockdown is definitely a good time to write and schedule blog posts. I’m aiming to get enough blog posts done for the rest of the year
Making plans is keeping me going some how, just thinking of more normal ideas. I have to admit I am really struggling with anything normal, be it housework or just writing blog posts at the moment.
So important to stay busy and keep going. As week 5 dawns on us I am finding it hard to stay positive although we are trying new ways to keep the kids interested and active and not be bored.
Glad Jack is better now. I like routine and it helps because I work. Trying to get a daily walk in and like yourself just do a weekly shop is good. Oh I cannot wait for the time after lockdown
I’m doing a lot of reading and writing to keep me occupied too. All those books i keep meaning to read are finally getting read!
Reading has been my go to activity this week to help keep my occupied and not fretting about all the other things going on in the world.
I think it’s so tough to have a proper routine during this time. I’m loving the Facebook group and make small purchases to make people feel better x
I’m glad lockdown seems to be going as well as it can be. I’m still working as I’m a key worker but I’ve been reading in my spare time to try and take my mind off things.
I have been poorly this week and thankfully managed to get a prescription via an online form for my doctors. Hoping they keep it open for the future after lockdown is over as its so much better
