With the rollout of the vaccines, lockdown is easing, and we’ll finally be able to travel across the country for leisure. There are many beautiful places to visit, so whether you want a lazy beach holiday, something more on the adventurous-side like kayaking, or luxurious glamping, UK has a lot to offer.
Peak District National Park
This vast national park includes many counties but mainly spans Derbyshire. It combines the great outdoors, attractions and history into one, as you’ll find some of the most spectacular walks, magnificent castles, lush gardens and peaks in the whole country.
A few of the must-visit places include a theme park Gulliver’s Kingdom, which is sure to be a hit with families. While you’re close, don’t miss The Heights of Abraham. It’s a cable car that takes you up to Masson Hill, where you can oversee a panorama of the Peak District.
The attractions mentioned above are located in the proximity of Matlock Bath village and is worth exploring too.
Meanwhile, Chatsworth House and Gardens is one of the most popular destinations in the Peak District and is superb for walking as it has 105-acres of manicured land dotted with sculptures and fountains, as well as an on-site farm shop.
A Quick Travel Tip
This is only a fraction of the places you can visit in this national park. Just make sure to travel in a smaller car like Citroen or Fiat so you can go through narrow country lanes and hills with ease. Some of the roads, like a Snake Pass from Sheffield to Glossop, can be tricky to navigate if you’re going with a larger car.
St Ives, Cornwall
St Ives is a small seaside town and one of the best places to stay in Cornwall. It boasts glistening light blue waters, white sand beaches and picturesque, quaint houses. What’s more, it is packed with things to do nearby. Kids will love visiting animal sanctuary Paradise Park and JungleBarn in Hayle, which is only five miles away from St Ives. If you’re into art, you can’t miss Tate Gallery and Barbara Hepworth’s Museum and Sculpture Garden, as they’re conveniently located close-by to the Porthmeor beach.
Isle of Wight
It is a large island in the South of England that you can reach via a ferry from Portsmouth. Known for natural beauty and beaches, it attracts families from far and wide. Sandown Bay Beach is one of the best traditional English ‘spades and bucket’ beaches in the Isle of Wight and is located close to the pier where you’ll find cafes and small independent shops.
The Needles Landmark Attraction has a variety of attractions including chairlifts that take you through the stunning scenery, Jurassic Adventure Golf, Dino Jeep Safari, games kiosk and lots more. Other notable mentions go to the Isle of Wight Aqua Park, Tapnell Farm Park, which is an amusement park with a petting zoo and Sandham Gardens adventure park.
One fascinating fact about the Isle of Wight is that the sky is one of the darkest in the UK, so you can see the sky clearly with bright stars which is perfect for stargazing.

I enjoyed reading this post. I’m planning some short breaks around the UK as lockdown rules are lifted, so it has given me a few extra ideas to think about. I’d love to visit St Ives, but it’s a long way from where I live in Staffordshire. The Peak District National Park is a good possibility though!
I have never been to the Peak District and it is deffo on the bucket list – and ISLE OF WIGHT – (probably where I am going when the restrictions ease!) that is a gem as is Cornwall – the UK has amazing places and my guess for this year is they are all gonna be packed – and good for the UK…!!!
