I have talked before about the importance of STEM and how we like to have toys and kits in the house that help to boost and encourage STEM learning. We were recently asked if we would like to review the I’m A Genius Space Gravity set, which retails at £19.99
Described as being able to discover the science behind gravity, this sets helps to create marble runs and other experiments using the theory of gravity.
For ages 7-12, the set comes with an illustrated manual, the cardboard set up (where you need to pop the cardboard circles out), marble cups, a few marbles, some cables and some clips to hold it in place.
Now seeing as it is a STEM activity, I helped Jack unpack it all but gave him the opportunity to put it together under my guidance. He did ask for help quite early on however as the set is incredibly fiddly to put together and seeing as he is only 9 years old, he quickly lost his patience with it and asked me to help instead. However I also found it quite fiddly and ended up enlisting Jack’s dad to put it together instead.
The cable is said to be cut and bent to use within the set but ours didn’t look like it had either done to them so we did have to do it ourselves which was a little frustrating. We finally got it set up after a little bit of frustration and loss of patience.
The colours of the set are lovely, the purples and other colours of space look very authentic. The kids loved popping out the cardboard circles to get it all set up ready!
Once we had it all set up, it was much more enjoyable! It was fun to get different routes set up to see how the marble travelled and to see how gravity played its part. It was very fulfilling and fun and Jack and Olivia really enjoyed seeing what gravity would do each time they rolled the marble along the track.
Overall, we were quite impressed with the set once it was set up although we weren’t too impressed with the time it takes to set up and how fiddly it can be. When it comes to STEM activities, children should be able to mostly set them up themselves with some adult guidance but this needed much more help to set up. If you are looking for new STEM activities to try, this is well worth picking up though!

My son would have loved this when he was young. It looks great fun and anything that makes learning fun is fine by me!
This looks like a quality set but you’re right, it’s a shame that it was a bit too complex for the children to set up by themselves as that could’ve been part of the educational experience for them.
What a really cool set! STEM sets are so important for kids as these subjects aren’t promoted as much as others. I wish I’d done more things like this as a kid x
Useful to know that this is a bit fiddley at set-up, no good for a child with dyspraxia or such then. It does look as if it provides great learning once set up. Mich x
