My Goals For 2020

Good morning and welcome to the first day of 2020! I hope you had a fantastic New Year’s Eve with your family and friends and saw the new year in in style! I posted a recap of my 2019 goals yesterday so what better way to start the year than with a post all about my goals for 2020?

Here is what I want to achieve in 2020:

Get Rid Of All Consumer Debt By The End Of 2020

I know this may take some time and may not happen by the end of 2020 but I am going to try my very hardest to get everything paid off through sheer hard work, selling all my old stuff that I no longer need and anything else I can. Wish me luck as it will require plenty of effort!

Setting Treat Goals

As a family, we don’t often cash out for big expenses. Now we’re trying to pay off some of our consumer debt, I want to set a little treat goal that we can splash out on at the end of 2020. For some of you, this might be buying a particular dress, saving for a particular holiday, or even treating yourself to a Rolex Datejust for sale. You don’t have to splash out on something entirely new, you can get good-as-new second-hand options for a fraction of the price.

Grow My Business Even More

I’ve had a great year. Whilst I have said goodbye to some clients, I have gained some new ones and really enjoyed working with them this year. My blog and social media have also grown exponentially over the year which I am very happy about. I hope to continue this in 2020.

Get Fit

I desperately need to lose some weight but I need to get back to how I was a few years ago – healthy eating with the active lifestyle too. I’ve tried to lose weight over the last few years but I’ve either done the fitness without the healthy eating or the healthy eating without the fitness. You truly need both to see results so I am hoping to get back on track, starting today. I’m even considering checking out the local running group and getting involved with that! I’ve talked about the things I need to consider here.

Read More Non-Fiction

I never used to be into non-fiction but I have found myself reading a lot of it this year. Whether it has been self-help books, memoirs or something else entirely, it has been great to read more of it and it is something I’d like to continue on in the year ahead.

Go Out At Least Twice A Month

It doesn’t matter where but I want to go out at least twice a month – at least once with Steve – on our own, without the kids – and once with friends. I’ve been heading out more with friends in recent weeks and it has been lovely, not having to worry about the kids or Steve for a couple of hours. I seem to spend my whole life either working, running around after the kids or sleeping. It has been nice to get some time back for myself.

I also want to spend more time with Steve without the kids. We spoke about this last week – everything happened so quickly for us – we got together in April 2009 and by December 2011, had moved twice (about to move again to this house!) and had a child. We didn’t get much time to do much just the two of us and whilst we’ve had some fab experiences in the past – such as this Murder Mystery stay – I’d like to do more with him even if it is going to the cinema or for a meal for a couple of hours.

Try Something New

Whether that is a new hobby, a new food or a new experience, I want to try at least one new thing in 2020. I don’t think I am quite ready for a skydive, say, but something else, maybe I’d be up for it.

Write Something & Self Publish It

I’m already thinking of putting together my poetry and adding more to it before self publishing as an anthology on Amazon. I am hoping to get to work on it a little more this year. You never know I may even get inspired to write an actual novel…I have plenty of ideas floating around in my head!

Grow My Travel Blog

It’s still in the beginning stages but a few months ago I started work on my family travel blog, Keene On Travel. We plan on travelling a lot in 2020 so I hope to have plenty of content to add over the coming months and I hope to grow this to the same level as this one.

Travel More

This ties in hand in hand with my previous goal but we plan to travel a lot more in 2020. We hope to spend time away whenever we have all got a few days together. In 2019, we managed Weston-super-Mare where we visited Cheddar Gorge, Hull, Blackpool, Cyprus and Boston as well as plenty of days out. I want to achieve the same level of travel in the next year – if not more!

These are my 2020 goals and whilst some may be really hard to achieve, I am determined to put in the work needed to achieve them. Laura has some great tips on how to set goals and achieve them so I’ll be taking notice of her tips.

What goals do you have for the year ahead?

  1. Oooh I love a bit of non fiction. I recommend Bloody Brilliant Women if you are keen on learning more about history.

  2. There are some really worthy goals in here. Getting my fitness back after over 6 months of illness is definitely something I want to focus on in 2020 but I think my biggest goal of the year is going to be surviving motherhood, which is something that terrifies me!
