It has taken me a little while to get around to writing this post but back in the summer, we headed to Cyprus as a family with Steve’s parents for our summer holiday. It had been almost four years since I had been abroad, seven years since Jack or Steve had and was Olivia’s first time.
We booked quite last minute with TUI as Steve wasn’t sure what days he would be working in the summer holidays – he works in a school but they had a lot of building work going on during the summer so needed staff on site. We also had to renew both Jack’s and Steve’s passports and get Olivia her first one – very stressful to try and get it all done in time.
The flight was very stress free but we took plenty to accommodate 2 year old Olivia. If you’re travelling with a toddler soon, check out 10 brilliant plane toys for toddlers and find out the perfect items to keep them entertained.
We opted for a private villa in Polis which is not too far outside Paphos. We chose this because we wanted a private pool to try and teach Jack how to swim – and he did learn how to swim during the week we were there, yay!
The villa was spacious and had amazing views of the hills nearby. Olivia and Jack spent most of their time in our room though. Steve’s parents took the downstairs bedroom as they are disabled but the twin room was right on the stairs and the double room was across a balcony away from them – neither Steve nor I felt comfortable leaving the kids in the twin room but thankfully our room was big enough for all of us.
We spent many mornings and afternoons in the pool, heading out to different areas of the island over the week. I enjoyed plenty of seafood, salads and delicious food and plenty of cocktails!
I may have indulged quite a lot – but why not? We were on holiday!
We visited many different beaches and the kids had a wonderful time, dipping their toes in the sea. It was amazing to see such bright beautiful water when you consider the murky water we often get here in the UK.
I’m actually surprised to see how little photos we took! We planned on doing so many activities whilst out there but often bypassed them in favour of jumping in the swimming pool or in the hot tub!
We had such a wonderful time – whilst I wish I could talk about all the fun things we did and things you could do in Cyprus, we mostly just sunned ourselves at the beach, swam in the pool and ate and drank delicious food and drink!
Cyprus was a wonderful place to visit and I’d love to go back – although I think we’re already planning our next holiday for somewhere else instead!
Did you go away during the summer holidays?

I’m so jealous! The beach looks lovely and the weather seems perfect, completely opposite from the UK where it rains every day.
