I’ve now been blogging for ten whole years. A lot has changed over the years but I am lucky enough to be able to make some of my income through this site. My other work has mostly originated from this site too – I got my first freelance writing gig because of this site and I also started virtual assistance because of blogging – I saw a need for a VA for bloggers who actually knew the job and ran with it.
But recently I’ve been thinking about things I can do to create a passive income from my site. I’ve seen Emma talk about it – it’s something she is passionate about – and other bloggers have mentioned it recently too. But even now, after ten years, I hadn’t been putting too much thought into it. Until now.
In recent months, I’ve been aiding one of my clients in creating stuff to include in their passive income projects. They asked me why I didn’t create stuff myself – and it had me thinking, why don’t I? With my thinking hat on, I’ve decided that I will hopefully soon be offering printables and similar items here on this site.
But where do Design Bundles come in?
Design Bundles are a company who started back in 2016, providing their customers with affordable digital products including graphics, illustrations and craft files, including cute SVG’s such as this turtle svg.
Now I can set things out and I know how I want them to look but when it comes to the graphics and illustrations, I’m at a loss. I need the help that Design Bundles offer to get my creations looking absolutely amazing and the way I want them to.
I’m considering creating a variety of free and paid for printables and other digital products for all of sites – obviously this one has a variety of content so can offer a variety of resources whereas my other sites will be a little more niche. I’ve got so many ideas – I am a bit late with a Valentines Day one but I’m thinking of making a Mothers Day one. I’ve even seen this cute shamrock svg which would be perfect for St Patricks Day crafts!
But why do I want to create a passive income?
Whilst I love working on my site ‘in the moment’, this and my freelance work really isn’t a ‘9-5’ job. Sure, I can set my own hours but if I take a few hours out of the day to do something else – like homeschooling, currently -, I then have to make that time up elsewhere. It can often feel like I’m constantly spinning plates and trying to stop some from falling.
The idea of creating a passive income is so that a little time spent and outlay reaps the rewards. Yes, it might take some time to create them but once they’re done, they’re done and can be utilised forever and ever. It just gives me that extra little bit of freedom and releases some of the pressure.
I can’t wait to get creating when I’ve got a little time – perhaps I will get something done over half term. If you like this, you may like this post about extra income ideas.
Do you have a passive income stream?
Websites like design bundle are so handy for people like me who likes to do mock ups and add png images to designs etc. It’s a really good idea to do for a passive income.
I don’t have a passive income stream but it’s something I’d love to have. Some sort of paid for download or content would be a great goal to make some extra money x
