Whether you are moving home, moving business premises or simply have some random stuff to move, everyone knows it can be difficult to move large items. Here are some top tips for moving those items that may be a little more difficult to move from place to place.
Utilise Equipment To Help You
If you have to move extremely heavy loads (I’m talking many, many tons) then utilising specialised equipment is probably your best bet. Hovair Systems have some of the most reliable and affordable heavy load transportation systems available.
Ask For Help From Professionals
If you don’t know what you are doing, make sure to ask for help from people who do know. There are people who know what equipment to use or how to move something in a certain way to avoid damage to the item and also injury to those moving it. Don’t hesitate to ask for help if you are a little unsure.
Remove The Little Things
It sounds so obvious but remove the little things before attempting to move the larger items. Everyone should know to leave the larger items until last but sometimes it doesn’t hurt to have a little reminder. By clearing away any obstacles, it will be much easier to move those more awkward items.
Our fridge freezer is quite large so we have had to move the little things before – and before, we’ve even had to take doors off of hinges to get it out!

Plan Your Route
Following on from removing the little things, it is a great idea to plan the route you will be taking to remove the item from where it currently is. If you are moving a large appliance out of a room, you need to work out what entrances and exits are the best to use to get it from A to B.
Push Instead Of Pull
If the item is large but small enough for you to deal with yourself without the use of equipment, make sure to push where possible instead of pulling. Pulling a large item means you risk giving yourself an injury whereas pushing is less likely to cause something like that. Just ensure that if you push the item, it won’t damage the item or the surroundings such as the floor or any door frames.
Stretch
Obviously some loads are far too big for you to move on your own which is why you use heavy load transportation equipment as mentioned in the first point. However for those pieces which are large but you can still move yourself, make sure you are stretching and ensuring you are limber before you actually move it. It can be quite an intense workout, moving large items from A to B, so you want to ensure you are in the best possible shape to move them.
These are just a few top tips for moving large items – from large appliances in your home to massive business items or vehicles. Do you have any tips you would like to share?

Thank you for reminding me to be sensible when moving large and heavy items. I’m always tempted to just try and lug it to move but I could seriously hurt myself. Luckily one of my daughters is sensible and makes me take all the items out first! lol

We had such a palava moving ourselves last time we moved – we did it ourselves as we were only moving across the city. But honestly, never again. Will definitely be using the professionals next time!
