The Joy Of Printed Memories

Collaborative Post

It should be of no surprise to you that I love photos – I take so many as you can probably tell by this blog and my Instagram. But sometimes just seeing them on a screen doesn’t cut it. There’s something much more special about holding that photographic memory in your hands.

I must admit that it has been quite some time since I last got my photos printed – I used to head into local shops, pop in my SD card and choose the images I wanted! But in recent years, photo printing online has become extremely popular and you can have your photos delivered to the local store or even to your home!

But why are printed memories that extra bit special?

I’m sure I am not the only one to have had a computer die on them before. Long before the introduction of cloud services and when social media was in its infancy, my computer died and I lost a lot of photos. Now thankfully this happened when I was still at school and as luck would have it, my friends had most of the same photos as we always sent them to each other. But you can imagine that feeling in the pit of my stomach when I thought I had lost them all.

Now that feeling would be tenfold. That’s why I back up my photos, have important ones in private folders on various social medias and print out my favourites – whether in photo form or in the form of a photo gift. Since having kids and losing my Dad, I know that I would never want to feel that feeling again, especially as I know it would be a lot worse than it was for 16 year old me.

That’s why I get so much joy out of printed memories. There is something so special about holding those photos in your hands; showing them to people as they come round. I have a photo album packed full of my favourite pictures of Jack as a baby and I need to get one sorted of Olivia. Something that eventually I can pass down to them when I am no longer here so those memories live on with them and with any further generations.

Photos tell a story when words sometimes can’t. Sometimes all you need is a photo to take you back to a special place. There’s a photo of me as a child in my local pub’s garden and even though I was so little, I can remember that day completely, all from a two second snapshot of the day.

There is so much joy to be had in printed memories and it couldn’t be any easier to get your photos printed out for you to enjoy and for others to see. Whether you simply want photos or you want to get a photo gift for a special someone, Snappy Snaps are there to help you bring those photos to life.

Do you print out your photos?

I adore photos too and I was so sad when none of the pictures from my honeymoon developed. So I always store them really securely now too and have some printed, and others made into gfits for my loved ones.

  2. I can relate to this! I used to store photos in my personal pen-drive, but someone stole it and I lost everything. From personal documents to dearest pics! Now, I do get my best photos printed, plus keep them safe everywhere from clouds to hard drives to mails.
