I mentioned recently that Jack has really got into reading over the past few months and his book collection has grown to accomodate his new found love. He particularly loves Mr Men books and books by David Walliams so when given the chance to review the latest offering from the man himself, The First Hippo On The Moon…well, I couldn’t resist.
Jack was so excited to read this as soon as it arrived – the picture on the front of the dust jacket sure does stand out! The book is a hardback with a gorgeously illustrated dust jacket (illustrated by Tony Ross, the extremely famous illustrator that we all grew up with!). As you can imagine, the story is about the first hippo on the moon – but will that hippo be Sheila (who resides in the jungle and gets her friends to help her make a makeshift rocket) or Hercules Waldorf Franklin III (who has been funding his dream trip to the moon). Who will get there first? Luck or money?
The story is a tale of silliness and one that we all found incredibly amusing and endearing. Whilst the authors books all have a sense of silliness, they also seem to have a little moral or story there – this one seems to be that you can follow and live your dream, no matter what background you come from.
We loved this book and we loved it so much that we are excited to share a giveaway with you all for your very own copy – just fill in the form below for your chance to win!
UK only. All entries will be moderated and verified. Multiple entries will be disqualified. Competition closes at 11.59pm on the 13th of December.

greeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaat
Not read this one, but my kids love Billionaire Boy. Was the first one we read and hilariously funny, something we read as a family.
Looking out for the rest as I can imagine, they are equally as hilarious and even a good read for adults
