With a toddler in the house and a partner that works shift work, our kitchen and bathroom are always being used. This means it is inevitable that it will get a little dirty – even after it has just been cleaned in some cases. We’ve reviewed steam cleaners in the past and used them on our carpeted floors but were looking for something a little more heavy duty to tackle the other non carpeted rooms in our house.
steam setting on their own or you could combine the two for some powerful cleaning. The machine is very compact and lightweight too making it easy to carry from room to room. My stairs aren’t the easiest to scale so lightweight appliances are required – I can’t tell you how many times I’ve struggled up and down the stairs with our bulky vacuum cleaner!
The Vac & Steam is pretty simple to put together – attaching the head to the body is really easy and you just have to wait for a click. The mop head is easy to attach too and again attaches to the body just like that. There is a little section which you can open and pour the water into – easy to open and close firmly again. You can see just how much water is in the cleaner once you’ve filled it up so you can also see when the water has all gone and the cleaner needs filling up again.
The vacuum setting really astounded me – I wasn’t expecting it to be that good but it really wowed me. We have quite a good vacuum cleaner so it was hard to match up to but it more than did the job at picking up all those tiny little crumbs that are so easy to miss. The steam setting took a while to kick in – it does say 30 seconds but I found that my cleaner took quite a while longer to kick in. Whilst it says you can use both the vac and the steam at the same time, I must admit that I saw much better cleaning results whilst using the steam on its own whereas the vacuum setting was good either on its own or combined with the steam setting – its almost as if the vac setting overpowers the steam somewhat when working together. The steam setting, nonetheless, is really good and the mop helped to clean up some of those pesky stains that we sometimes miss – a common tale with a toddler who gets distracted very easily and drops all manners of things over the floor!
This is definitely a handy addition to our household, not only because it is lightweight and easy to transport from place to place. This makes cleaning and vacuuming our hard floors a whole lot easier and I am looking forward to using it a lot more over the coming months.
