Say Goodbye To Bacteria With Soji Towels

Collaborative Post

Now if you are anything like my family, you have a lot of different towels milling around. You’ll probably have the fancy towels, the not so fancy towels, the swim towels and the towels for the pets. You probably don’t have as many towels as Monica from Friends does though!

Many families will have a variety of different towels for a variety of different things. Some will do sports, some will do swimming, some will have pets that get extremely dirty. When all is said and done, we all end up using our towels regularly which means they need washing just as regularly.

But do you have a self-cleaning towel? I bet you don’t! Did you know the average bath towel contains over 450 times more bacteria than a toilet seat? If you aren’t washing them almost daily, you’re adding bacteria onto your skin! Why do clean towels matter so much?

Did you know that a hand towel that has been unwashed for a month (ew!) will have over 6 million colonies of bacteria on each square inch. This is 200x higher than safe levels according to the EPA! That is such a crazy number and quite disgusting, wouldn’t you agree? You want to stay healthy so avoid flu, colds and infection by using a clean towel – this will also help to avoid breakouts and reduce allergic reactions too!

After a year of development, Soji have just launched their flagship product line on Kickstarter this week. The Soji towel line has bath towels and hand towels which are woven with antimicrobial silver. These towels eliminate 99.9% of bacteria, viruses, mold, fungus, allergens and more on contact.

Not only that but it’s antimicrobial power is safe, permanent and 100% natural – the effect will never fade and will never wash away. Whilst Soji may not be the first antimicrobial towel, the team claim it to be the softest and it is made from what is widely regarded to be the softest cotton on Earth. It might feel like a blanket due to it being oversized but it works better than a normal towel due to its hyper absorbency and how it dries 3 times faster than other towels!

In comparison to terry towels and microfiber towels, Soji wipes the floor with them – who doesn’t want soft and fluffy towels that are also quick drying and healthier on the skin?

Now I don’t know about you but I could certainly do with a few of these in my house! We go through so many towels – with four people in the house, some at school and some doing sport or exercise regularly, plus a few different pets (especially one who gets very muddy on walks!), we always seem to almost run out and it feels like they are constantly in the wash!

If one of the Soji self cleaning towels sounds like it could be your sort of thing, then do check out their Kickstarter to back the project and for more information.

Would you use a self cleaning towel?

  6. Yuck, I had no idea towels were such bacteria buckets! My husband has swapped to bamboo socks recently and they feel lovely, so I’d definitely like these towels. Mich x

  7. People laugh at me when I say a bath towel only gets used once in my house and I change the hand towels daily, but the thought of leaving them there any longer creeps me right out.

I love the idea of a self-cleaning towel though. 🙂

This was really interesting to read, thanks for sharing! We have lots of towels in our house mainly because my son swims 4 times a week so we get through lots of towels lol! However none are self cleaning so this is definitely something to consider after reading these facts.

  11. I love the idea of a self cleaning towel! I’m constantly washing our towels and with five of us it seems to be never ending!
