My Favourite Blogging Tools

Blogging. Something that can be done anywhere providing you have a capable device and an internet connection. Mind you, you don’t even necessarily need internet all of the time either.  You can write as and when you wish, proofread when you see fit…and then hit the publish button once you’re happy with it and have a wifi connection. That’s the beauty of blogging – the minimum of tools can have the maximum of effects.

With that in mind, you do find yourself slowly gaining more and more blogging tools as your blogging life progresses. I started out with a computer and a camera. I now use a variety of tools to keep my blogging as simple and carefree as I can.

First and foremost – I would be nowhere without a device to blog on. I currently use either our family desktop computer or Steve’s laptop. It has generally been Steve’s laptop of late due to computer problems – which has caused my blogging to be a bit all over the place. Nothing like both needing to use it at the same time!

My iPad and phone (which I reviewed here) are invaluable to me. I generally use the iPad at home for writing up some drafts, interacting on social media or researching for my posts. My phone is my favourite item – I take pictures with it, interact on social media with it, answer emails – I would be lost without it.

Next up, my camera and USB memory card stick. I don’t use my camera as often anymore as it is pretty old and I need a new one (plus my phone does a great job) but it is handy in times of need. The stick is great for uploading pictures when a device I’m using doesn’t have a memory card slot.

For keeping organised, I rely on a few different things. Notebooks for writing down ideas for content, to do lists and so on. Google Drive has become invaluable to me for much the same reason. Although I haven’t kept strictly to it recently, this is where I keep my blogging schedule, hard copies of my content ideas, my work incomings and outgoings which includes blog income (I also use Excel and a notebook for this) and an email verification service. Get rid of those email addresses that are no longer in use or those which have been misspelled upon input by your readers. By cleaning up your database, it means distributing your newsletter to mass email addresses does not cause you to get blocked by the company you send it through.
