My 2021 Reading Challenge – Books 6-10

Some of these books were sent for the purpose of review – these will be clearly marked. This post also contains affiliate links.

It has been a while since I checked in with a reading challenge update. So here we are – I’m sharing with you books 6-10. What have I been reading lately?

The Mystery of Montague House by Emma Davies – 5/5 (Sent for review)

I read and reviewed this here and did a cover reveal here. I have always enjoyed the author’s other work so when I found out she had started writing mysteries, I couldn’t wait to check them out. I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait to read more in the series. You can buy the book on Amazon here {affiliate link}.

A Brush With Death by Fiona Leitch – 4/5 (Sent for review)

I mentioned the first in the series in my first reading challenge post and this is the second in the series. I still loved many of the characters but wasn’t too keen on the love interest in this book, much preferring the would they, wouldn’t they of the first book. You can read my full review here and buy the book on Amazon here {affiliate link}.

The Lucky Escape by Laura Jane Williams – 4/5 (ARC sent for review)

I have now read a number of Laura Jane’s books and I have enjoyed them all. This one is no exception. Here’s the review I left on Netgalley:

Having enjoyed the authors books before, I was very intrigued by this book. Jilted on her wedding day, Annie is devastated. She mopes for a little while before deciding to try and get back out there, bumping into old friend Patrick when she does.

Her in laws are ashamed about how their son treated her and tell her to go on the honeymoon regardless – and Patrick ends up going along for the ride! Now these must be very understanding in laws because even though their son was a piece of garbage, I doubt many people would allow another man to go on the holiday that they technically paid for!

It was nice to see Annie rekindle an old friendship and I loved the relationship between Annie and her little sister. Her mum was a little infuriating, overbearing and judgemental but it was nice to see them finally find some common ground.

I think the ending could have been a little stronger but overall this was a fantastic read.

This book is available to pre-order from Amazon here {affiliate link} for publication on June 10th 2021.

The Night We Met by Zoe Folbigg – 5/5 (Sent for review)

I reviewed this here and described it as ‘a gut punch of a book’. I think that tells you just how beautiful and emotional it is. A 5 out of 5 read for me and one I think everyone should read. You can pre-order the book on Amazon here {affiliate link}. Publication day is May 13th 2021.

Death At Rainbow Cottage by Jo Allen – 4/5 (Sent for review)

You know me – I love a good mystery or crime series and this is the second book I’ve read in this series and from this author. I really enjoyed it and will be checking out more of the series. You can find my review here and buy the book on Amazon here {affiliate link}.
