Ever since I found about the brand Mia Tui, I have wanted one of their changing bags. As they say, they are a bag for all reasons (I love a clever pun). Not only do they seem functional but they looked gorgeous as well. I have also been very impressed with the support Mia Tui have given the lovely Jennie from Edspire in remembering her beautiful baby girl, Matilda Mae with a range of Mia Tui satchels (view the Matilda Mae range here – 10% of all Matilda Mae sales go to the Lullaby Trust). When they asked me to review one of their bags, you would not believe how excited I was – something that had been on my wishlist for SO long!
I was sent the Ella shoulder hobo bag in steel blue. Described as a work bag, a changing bag or just a simple handbag, Mia Tui certainly haven’t got it wrong. It has multiple pockets and ample space inside. Each bags comes with a clear PVC bag and a little clutch bag meaning that ladies can utilise even more space within the bag.
I currently use my bag as both a changing bag and a handbag and on an average day, this will contain nappies, wipes, changing mat, nappy sacks, some cream, a drink for Jack, a drink for me, my phone, my purse, my keys, my business cards and some makeup. I still have space for more should I so wish as you can see above. There are plenty of pockets within the interior of the bag – there is space to put your phone, pens – whatever you so wish.
Sneak preview of what the interior looks like when the bag is empty
Whilst the interior is certainly impressive, so is the exterior. The soft faux leather has beautiful contrast stitching and also has zip closure which for me is a major plus – whilst changing bags do generally come up with a zip, plenty of handbags don’t and I am not comfortable carrying around a bag that doesn’t zip up!
The steel blue colour is perfect for day to day errands – it looks pretty and functional – I’ve had plenty of people asking about it believing it to be just a handbag and are amazed when they find out it is so much more – even more so when I show them inside! The two bags that come inside the Ella bag can either be kept in or removed for use separately – I tend to keep them in as they are very handy for keeping makeup in or stopping my keys from scratching other items in my handbag.
If someone was to ask me what my top mummy items were, I think this would have to be towards the top of the list. All too often, changing bags are plain and boring and leave us mums feeling a little less stylish. Mia Tui bags are something every new mum should be treated to/treat herself to – not only does she get a functional but attractive changing bag – but she can also use it as a handbag once its changing functionality is no longer needed. I am sure mine is going to last me years and years – I’ve had it over a month now and there are no scratches or marks at all! I am very impressed.
The Ella bag in Steel Blue retails at £58 and is available on the Mia Tui website or in most John Lewis stores. Will you be treating yourself to one?
