Just Yesterday

It’s Thursday which means I am again adding a piece of my writing to the blog. I again took a prompt from the wonderful The Prompt linky using the prompt ‘Grow‘ and came up with this. I hope you enjoy. I’m once again linking up to Prose For Thought, The Prompt and What I’m Writing – linky badges below.

Just Yesterday

Just yesterday, a tiny bundle of fun

Just yesterday, first steps, first run

Just yesterday, first words, first smile

Just yesterday, babygro laundry pile

Just yesterday, first bite of food

Just yesterday, learning about being good

Just yesterday, standing on your own two feet

Just yesterday, using me as a seat

Today you are a smiling, laughing bundle of joy

Growing up into such an amazing boy

Today you are the apple of my eye

Today you grow more and I won’t lie

It’s difficult to see my baby growing so fast

Knowing that these precious moments won’t last

But I’m excited to see how your story pans out too

I’ve got the highest of hopes for you.

I have girls but I completely understand this. My big ones are 6 now and I can’t quite believe where the time has gone. I too hope for exciting and interesting future for them, and hope I can help them on their way. #prose4t

It is mad how quickly they grow, isn’t it?

  3. This made me cry. It is absolutely beautiful – and sums up childhood in so many perfect ways. Thank you for linking to Prose for Thought and commenting from WhatImWriting too xx

Thanks so much Victoria, sorry for making you cry! xx

  4. Ah! I really enjoyed this poem. Beautifully captured! This makes me feel wobbly too! My kids are 13 and 16 now and in my heart they are my babies, my halo haired little ones, but its getting quite scary now and I feel like I’m counting down to an empty house. I think we have to stop thinking of them as they were and make it our mission to continue nurturing them well into adulthood!

  5. Aww, this is a beautiful peice of writing! Kiddies grow so quickly it’s so important to enjoy each new step and thing they can do
