My son loves messy play – jumping in puddles, visiting Forest school when at school, playing in the park and getting all muddy. Now if you’re anything like me, you hate it when they come home covered in mud or soaked to the bone even though they’ve had tons of fun. Luckily Jack has a jacket/all in one suit at school but I’ve been feeling the need for such a thing at home for some time – after all, I’ve got so much more washing to contend with nowadays with a young baby!
I was recently asked if I would like to review something from the Dry Kids range and we opted for this Dry Kids Red Waterproof Jacket which retails at £12.95. Now recently the weather has been pretty rubbish but Jack being a five year old boy has wanted to still get outside and have some fun. A waterproof jacket was just what he needed and he has been testing it in the elements to see just how waterproof it is. Of course, typical life of a blogger – taking pictures of him in it and the weather has been delightful, what are the chances?!
There are a variety of different colours to choose from and the sizes go from 2 years all the way up to 13-14 years. With Jack being 5 years old, I opted for the 5-6 size and chose red as should he ever misplace his jacket at school, this would be able to replace it as it is also red.
The jacket itself is just right sleeve wise – sometimes the 5-6 aged clothes can be a little long in the arms for Jack but this jacket is just right. Length wise it is also about right; it completely protects Jack from the horrible weather and does up with no problems too.
The jacket is perfect for both boys and girls and has waterproof fabric tested to 3000mm of hydrostatic head. It is also 100% polyester PVC coated with taped seams. Another great thing about this jacket is that it folds into the front zip pocket and has a foldaway hood in the collar which means it is super easy to store away in your handbag or pocket on a nice day if the weather is likely to change.
The jacket has two front pockets and a vented back with mesh lining plus has elasticated cuffs to keep their wrists dry too. The jacket can also be paired with the Dry Kids Over Trousers if you wish but can also be bought alone if you have no need for the trousers.
We’ve got plenty of activities planned for the May half term and many of these include places where a waterproof jacket would be essential. This will definitely be getting packed away to take with us as it is so handy to keep in my handbag for days when the weather just doesn’t want to play ball.
I’m very impressed with the quality and effectiveness of this Dry Kids jacket and will definitely be grabbing the next size up when Jack grows out of it – after all, a waterproof jacket is ever so handy!
