A few weeks ago now, I was invited to try the new Jamie’s Pizzeria in St Albans, located just next door to Jamie’s Italian itself. I had no idea what to expect – except for pizza, of course – and I couldn’t wait to try the food – we are all big pizza lovers! We arrived at lunchtime and Steve and I decided we would both opt for the lunchtime deal – each getting a pizza of our choice and a salad of our choice. We opted for different salads so we could try both of them but I must say, I was a little bit jealous of Steve when his salad came out compared to mine.
We chose a starter of garlic bread, first of all, for the three of us to share. Jack has developed our love of garlic bread and often asks for it when we are out in restaurants so we always order it if we see it on the menu. It was crisp and delicious and was just garlicy enough.
For our mains, we chose a children’s size pizza for Jack – we asked that his just be a margherita as he would inevitably take any other topping off. I chose the Funghi Misti pizza (Porcini mushroom sauce, roasted herby mushrooms, mozzarella, chervil & tarragon) as I knew it would mean Steve wouldn’t steal any and Steve chose the Italian Hot (crushed tomatoes, Westcombe mozzarella, spicy Cobble Lane pepperoni & wild oregano), knowing I wouldn’t try his!
Jack really seemed to enjoy his, giving us the thumbs up after he had eaten it all! He demolished the pizza pretty quickly, showing us just how much he really does adore the stuff! He even asks for it most evenings!
Mine and Steve’s pizzas were delicious – I don’t very often eat things with mushrooms out, despite loving them – so it was nice to change that and actually really enjoy them for once. My pizza was cooked to perfection and so was Steve’s – he did make me try a little of his, knowing that I wouldn’t be able to handle the heat! That’s not to say its too hot, I’m just a wimp when it comes to any type of heat!
Finally, we had to opt for desserts – it would be rude not to, right? The boys chose ice cream – they had such a variety of flavours available – and I chose the epic chocolate brownie. I considered perhaps having a shot of Limoncello but decided against that idea after remembering the last time I had it!
These were the perfect ends to a fantastic meal, tasty and hitting the spot. As you can see, Jack really enjoyed his ice cream! I was very impressed with the food and service at the new pizzeria and will definitely visit again. I am also keen to visit the main Jamie’s Italian restaurant too – we took a look inside and it looks amazing! Have you tried Jamie’s for food at all?
