Why I Love A UK Staycation

I don’t know about you but I love holidaying in the UK. In fact the only holiday I am going on this year is actually going to be in the UK. We love taking Jack around different parts of the country and he really enjoys getting to see what the UK has to offer.

There is so much you can do on a staycation. Whilst we all know a lot about the places where we live, how much do you really know about your country and what it has to offer? We love nothing more than visiting specific landmarks, trying restaurants that have been recommended to us or visiting a local beach that everyone raves about.

When we have a staycation, we tend to opt for a caravan holiday and even owned our own caravan at one point! We had a caravan holiday in the Isle of Wight last year and are going to Great Yarmouth this year, although we’re considering a caravan park in Cornwall for our next holiday. Caravan parks just provide so much for families – they have all the amenities you could need – food, entertainment, play areas and swimming pools for the kids whilst making sure the adults are entertained too!

Of course, a UK staycation has so much more to offer. There’s seeing the sights, visiting the local beaches, sampling the local fare – a trip to Cornwall wouldn’t be right without a Cornish pasty, would it? Plus a trip to the seaside obviously calls for fish and chips!

When the UK has so much to offer us when it comes to a holiday, is it any wonder plenty of people are deciding to have a staycation in their own country rather than pay the heavy costs to go abroad? Sure, the weather in the UK can’t always be relied upon but isn’t that part of the fun of being British? Dealing with it and getting on with it!

I always enjoyed staying in the UK when I was a child – not only was it more affordable for my parents but I got to see so much of the country that I know other friends have still yet to see in their mid twenties. You can be just as entertained, just as well fed and have just as much fun when holidaying in the UK as you can anywhere else and that’s why we want Jack to enjoy holidaying in the UK too. Our holiday for this year is already booked but it certainly looks like Cornwall is the place we will visit next year – to take advantage of the beautiful landscape, visit the beautiful beaches, snaffle a few Cornish pasties and sample the local seafood. Sounds like bliss, right?

These are my reasons for loving a staycation in the UK but what are your thoughts? Do you like holidaying in the UK? Why?
