The other day I shared the very first part of my house tour, the games/gym room and I thought why not share another room with you? Today I am sharing with you the study. It is only a tiny little space – I am assuming it used to be a large cupboard or something similar at one point.
So what does it look like?
This is how it looks from the landing. On the left is a small desk area which currently has a box full of DVDs in it (which will be relocated downstairs once we have some storage for it) and a small boxed collection of DVDs that are apparently worth quite a bit of money so I’m keeping them separate from the others. I’m also using the space underneath to store baby clothes – we aren’t sure if we will be having another but I have a few boxes of neutral, boys and girls clothes that I wanted to keep so I am storing them there. I’ve also got the Henry Hoover there. Since this photo was taken, we’ve also put the iron and ironing board in there so it is easy to access. On the right is the airing cupboard where we are storing bedding and towels.
As you can see in this photo, the collection of DVDs is sitting there plus a class photo on the tabletop. I’ve got a collection of photos on the window sill plus also a painting Olivia did at one of her playgroups – I love this window sill, it reminds me of the family I can’t see at the moment like my mum, brother and sister in law and of those who have passed away such as my dad.
I will admit that this area has had quite a few more books added since this photo was taken, oops! I’m trying to take advantage of being locked down and read some of these. I’ll keep the ones I want to reread and get the others ready for the charity shop. If you’re anything like me, you’ll have plenty sorted out to go to the charity shop once this is all over!
This is probably my favourite area of the whole house. I love the idea of popping into the study to pick a book and then taking it to my bedroom to chill out.
So this is my little study area – I may even consider working from here at one point! I’ve got a question for you – which book should I read next?

I love little rooms! I also love reading too. Books to recommend… Im currently reading The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold. I’ve read it before a few years ago and stumbled across it whilst decluttering and thought I’d give it a read again.
If you’ve not read The Cursed Child yet, I can really recommend! I’m currently re-reading all of Harry Potter and plan to finish with a re-read of The Cursed Child š
I would love a little room like this to shut myself away in and work, as for books to read I am terrible at making decisions haha x
I would really love a room like this to turn into a reading room, my current bookcases are totally full and are taking over our bedroom- I am appreciating the extra time at home to read. Robin Hobb always come highly recommended.
What a great little space! We are currently looking to buy our first home and I would love a little office or study space all of my own. Not only would it be somewhere I could work/retreat in peace too but a space to store all my bits and pieces that my husband thinks are clutter lol!
I’ve had casual vacancy for ages and not read it, I think you should read it and let me know if it’s any good. This is a nice space and you should really consider using it to work in so you can separate out there you work x
It will be so cosy to lock yourself away in there. I would recommend The Other Womans Shoes by Adele Parks. Its a really good read.
I really like the room. I’ve always liked small rooms as they feel nice and cosy
What a lovely blog post of your house tour, love that you have a study/reading space, I wish I had that in my house, somewhere I can go to read, at the moment I just read in the living room or bedroom.
Looks fantastic, i love this idea of doing a tour of your rooms etc, do you do the voice of the through the key whole program as you do it? lol
I wish I had a study area, my computer is in the lounge and it is especially busy at the moment
This looks great! Iām a big fan of reading and I love having a designated study area in the house.
I’d love to have a small study for myself. That space looks like it gets decent light, I wonder if maybe a chair might fit there to relax and read?
What a great little space, I would totally turn this into my little craft room.
Oh I would love a study area of my own to work form, I get so tired of working form the kitchen tables as I never seem to get any peace:(
