Fenwick Wine Buyers Case Festive Choice | Review

I was sent this case for the purpose of review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

When it comes to Christmas, I love a good hamper. Whether it is a food hamper or a drinks hamper, you can always guarantee it will be received well. I was recently in contact with the team at Fenwick who asked if I’d like to review one of their products over the festive period. Of course, I had to say yes – I’d never tried anything from Fenwick before and was keen to see what their products were like.

The product they sent me was the Fenwick Wine Buyers Case Festive Choice which retails at £120. Available in the food and gifts category on the site, this case contains six bottles of alcoholic beverages – two white wines, two red wines, one port and one champagne. So what was in the case and what did we think?

With two premium red wines, two premium white wines, a bottle of champagne and a bottle of 10 year old tawny port, there really is something for everyone.

First up is the Pouilly-Fumé Le Chant des Vignes ABV 13%.

This is a fresh and zesty Sauvignon Blanc from the Loire Valley, with exotic fruits and grapefruit aromas. We received two bottles of this and I’ve recently started on the first bottle. So far, I am really enjoying it – it is as fresh and zesty as the description states. This would be great paired with a meal or if a whole glass of wine is a little too much, a drop of lemonade would go in it a treat.

Next up is the Castelforte Amarone Della Valpolicella Classico ABV 14.5%.

This is hand crafted using a long, slow fermentation and a minimum of 18 months ageing in a large oak barrel. This has a bouquet of cinnamon, cherry jam and walnut and a palate of ripe black cherry fruit with notes of vanilla and coffee on the finish.

I don’t really drink red wine but it is something Steve enjoys every now and again and this is apparently quite nice. The cinnamon and cherry really shine through which is great as they are two of his favourite flavours. The flavours make it perfect for a festive tipple. It is full bodied and delicious and would be perfect paired with red meat.

We also have the Champagne Henriot Brut Souverain NV ABV 12%.

This is well balanced and brings flavours of brioche, crunchy cherries and white peach. A clean finish.

Now champagne is something we usually only drink on special occasions because I am not the biggest fan but boy, could I drink this more often! It is really fresh and clean and something I could drink and drink. We’ll definitely be picking up more bottles of this.

Finally, we have the Graham’s 10 Year Old Tawny Port ABV 20% .

This has a deep tawny and polished copper colour and has complex aromas combined with hints of honey and figs. This has rich and mature fruit flavours and a luscious and long finish.

Steve absolutely adores port so was very happy to see this included in the case. It is definitely his festive drink of choice and I don’t see this lasting long into 2021 – if it even makes it there! I’m not the biggest port fan but even I have to say this is one of the better tasting ones out there. We’ll definitely pick up another bottle of this in the future.

Have you bought any hampers or wine cases in preparation for the festive season? Would you enjoy this festive wine case?

  1. This is a really lovely selection. I like the fact that it is a variety rather than some that will just have one type of wine in.

    Enjoy it x

  2. I have a friend that would enjoy that selection. She’d reserve some for herself and her husband and some for when they entertain.

I can’t usually afford to shop in Fenwicks, but I make an exception at Christmas time. They really help to make it special.
