Simple Ideas To Make Someone You Love Smile

Collaborative Post

If someone you love is struggling, or you just want to let them know that you’re thinking of them, there are a few simple things you can do to make them smile. You don’t need to make any elaborate plans or cook them a Michelin star meal to make a difference to their day and mood. Below, you’ll find some simple ideas to make someone you love smile:

Recommend A Song That Reminds You Of Them

Sometimes, the most simple thing you can do is recommend a song to your loved one – one that reminds you of them. It doesn’t even need to be a song that reminds you of them; it could be an upbeat song you think they’ll like, or one that is special to you that you would like to share. Music has the power to change moods on an instant, so this is a simple idea that can really pack a punch.

Send Them Some Beautiful Flowers or a Plant

Perhaps you could make someone you love smile with some beautiful flowers or a special plant. If your loved one isn’t the type of person with a green finger and an aptitude for killing plants, then you should probably send flowers instead. Many plants require special care, although the snake plant is pretty difficult for anybody to kill. The great thing about gifting flowers and plants is that they can make us happier just by looking at them, and plants even clean the air.

Give Them A Genuine Compliment

Some people just aren’t good at sharing how they feel or giving compliments. However, giving a genuine compliment can make somebody’s day – and it’ll make you feel good, too. It’ll mean all the more if you’re not the kind of person who gives lots of compliments, so try to think of something you love about this person and let them know. Be super specific to make it even more meaningful!

Let Them Know Why You’re Proud of Them

Telling someone you’re proud of them can always go a long way. Does this person work hard? Do their best to be a good friend? Do lots for other people? Are they thoughtful? Let them know why you’re proud of them.

Listen To Them Fully

It’s rare we listen to another person fully. We’re often watching the TV, scrolling on our phones, or doing something else. We are so scattered and our attention is often in several places at once. This is why it’s so meaningful when you can give them your full attention and let them know that you are listening. Don’t just wait for your chance to chime in – listen and ask questions. It really does make a difference.

Offer Them Genuine Help

Offer genuine help that you are confident you will be able to provide. Don’t make promises you can’t keep – be specific about what you can offer help with and when. This way, they are more likely to take you up on your kind offer.
