Cheerios Oat Crisp | A Brand New Range

I was recently contacted asking if we would like to try Cheerios Oat Crisp, a brand new range of cereal from Cheerios. We are big cereal eaters in this household and try to ensure that we all have breakfast every single day. Having recently stocked up our cupboards and with these arriving, we now have a multitude of products available for our breakfast, we really are spoilt for choice and have no reason not to eat any!

The new Cheerios Oat Crisp range consists of two products – the original Cheerios Oat Crisp and the Cinnamon flavour. Steve and I both adore cinnamon so we were excited to see this in the range. In our opinion, there isn’t nearly enough cinnamon flavoured cereals as there should be!

With 8 servings in each packet, I am not too sure these will last us long. We always buy Cheerios and often buy oat flake cereal as well so the combination of the two together really intrigued us. These cereals are a natural source of beta-glucan which can help lower cholestrol (they’ve been approved by cholestrol charity Heart UK!) and are also high in fibre and low in saturated fat.

According to Heart UK, over half of all adults in the UK have raised cholesterol which is a risk factor in the development of coronary heart disease. Apparently just one bowl of Cheerios Oat crisp will provide 1/3 of your recommended intake of beta-glucan and the experts recommend a daily intake of 3g oat beta-glucan to obtain the beneficial cholesterol-lowering effect. So what did we think?

I’m not the biggest fan of Cheerios unlike Steve or Jack but I do love an oat flake! Having tried both, I must admit that I much prefer the cinnamon flavour – but then I knew I would. I prefer my cereals to have a hint of sweetness or spice to really get me going in the morning. Steve and Jack have both been choosing to eat these the past few mornings and have really been enjoying them – Jack seems to prefer the original whilst Steve is like me and is a fan of the cinnamon.

Will we buy them again? I think so. There aren’t enough cinnamon cereals out there right now so I will definitely be picking some of the cinnamon flavour up for me and Steve and I will probably get the original again for Jack. Just beware…if your children are already Cheerios fans, they will love these!

These cereals cost £2.49 and are currently available at Tesco, Ocado and Sainsbury’s with them hitting the shelves in Waitrose and Asda by the end of April 2016. Find out more about them on the Nestle website.
