Do you ever find yourself looking through your friends on Facebook and being super jealous of what others are doing? No? Well I guess you are lying then. I’m so jealous of my friends who are kicking it back on the beach or out travelling the world. So many of my friends have travelled far across the world and send back such amazing shots.
Perhaps the person I am most jealous of is my cousin. I have always wanted to visit Australia and New Zealand and one of my cousins lives in New Zealand and has done for about ten years now with his family because of his really important job. He often visits Australia or goes on cruises and its hard to control my envy.
In the past Steve and I have spoken about emigrating abroad when Jack and any future children are much, much older. He really wants to move to Canada because of his heritage (his grandfather was Canadian) and I am okay with that but part of me wants to head to Australia because of my own heritage (my great grandfather was Australian). Obviously we can’t emigrate to both countries unless we did one after the other and it won’t be for a good few years yet but it doesn’t stop me dreaming in the slightest – wouldn’t it be an amazing place to live?
My great grandfather was from Melbourne but my grandfather has told me that distant family moved further afield to places like Canberra and Adelaide. If we moved to Australia, I’m not sure whereabouts we would particularly move to but I have recently been looking at houses for sale in Adelaide to get an idea of location and prices. I’m in awe of some of the beautiful buildings, I really am – they’re so different to the buildings we have in the UK and I’ve only ever seen houses like that when watching Neighbours or Home and Away! So many school friends have gone travelling and decided to live out there and I really don’t blame them!
I know emigration won’t be for a good few years yet due to Jack’s schooling and family issues but we do know that we will eventually move out of the country but where to? I don’t know but our family will be leaving the UK in the distant future and we really need to decide where we are going. Australia is definitely an option and maybe I can seek out some long lost family whilst I’m there? What do you think?
