We were sent some Lickalix Baby Cubes for the purpose of review. All thoughts and opinions are our own.
I was recently told a brand new unique concept from the brand Lickalix – Baby Cubes! I must admit I was very intrigued and wanted to find out more about them. So what are they?
Baby Cubes are handy cubes that are 100% baby grade frozen organic pureed fruit or vegetables. A healthy way to help get some more fruit and veg into your little ones meals whilst also saving time for us as parents. They lock in all the beneficial nutrients and create a fun new way to add fruit and veg into your children’s diet.
Ready in just 30 seconds and with no added sugar or chemical nasties, you can be assured that they only contain fruit and veg. The brand behind them, Lickalix, have become established as the only producer of organic real whole fruit ice lollies since their inception in 2014. Baby Cubes have been their first foray into the organic frozen baby food market which seemed like the next logical step to make from their ice lollies. Run by Karis and Dominic, Karis often found herself working long hours and also trying to juggle being a mum, cooking nutritious and natural meals but struggling to find the time. She began making Baby Cubes in advance so they were ready to add to any number of different meals to ensure her son was getting the nutrients he needed – from porridge to pasta sauce to yoghurt. Not only that you can use them by themselves as well – take them out in some Tupperware and you have a quick nutritious dish on the go!
There are four different flavours – two vegetable and two fruit flavours and they launched in Ocado, the online supermarket, in April 2018. The orange pack is a blend of carrot, sweet potato, and butternut squash. Tthe green pack includes broccoli, spinach and peas. The red pack is a delicious blend of strawberry, mango, and apple and the peach pack includes apple, apricot and peach. Each pack costs £4.99.
So what did we think?
Since receiving these, I’ve been popping them into our home cooked meals every now and again when the children weren’t aware. Olivia isn’t too bad at eating fruit and vegetables but Jack is awful so it has been great knowing he is getting that nutritional goodness even if he doesn’t know, haha!
Jack also decided to do a taste test on the frozen cubes themselves – this summer heat has seen us consuming plenty of ice lollies so the Baby Cubes have been exceptionally popular with my kids – the fruit ones especially. They’ve been wanting something ice cold to cool them down and I know that they’re not consuming something with a ton of sugar like some of the ice lollies we’ve got in our freezer.
Whilst Jack has been happy to eat all of these when hidden in meals, he wasn’t too sure on the vegetable ones when he tried to use them like an ice lolly, haha! The fruit ones do however make for a great product to help your children cool down in this heatwave. Overall I have been very impressed. Although I work from home, my life is very busy and sometimes I just don’t have the time to make absolutely everything from scratch. These Baby Cubes have been great for adding into sauces and other dishes so that I can have the peace of mind that my children are getting the nutritional goodness they need. The price for each pack is great too – they are rather large and packed to the brim with Baby Cubes so you definitely get your money’s worth.
If you’re a busy mum, I’d definitely suggest getting some of these for your freezer – if only to save you some time and sanity when you need it most!
