My 2020 Reading Challenge – Books 36-40

Some of these books were sent for the purpose of review – these will be clearly marked. This post also contains affiliate links.

It has been a while since I’ve shared an update on my reading challenge. I will admit that I dropped down my challenge from 80 books to 45 as I just didn’t see it being achievable! So what have I been reading lately? Again there has been a lot of review books as I’ve been trying to cut my review pile down as we go into the new year.

Rethink: Smashing The Myths of Women in Business by Andi Simon – 4/5 (copy sent for review)

I actually reviewed this here but I will share a brief review here too. I found this a really interesting and inspirational book. It told the stories of many different women in business across a broad spectrum of industries. It gave me the courage to believe in myself and to stop telling myself that I couldn’t do something. You can buy the book here {affiliate link}, it is released in January 2021.

The 50/50 Friendship Flow: Life Lessons From and For My Girlfriends by Shari Leid – 4/5 (copy sent for review)

This was an interesting book. You can read my full review here but simply put, I read this when I really needed to and read it in just one evening. It was a fascinating look at friendship and appreciating others, something I needed in a year when those friendships have really been put to the test. You can buy the book here {affiliate link}.

The Chocolate Box by Isabella May – 4/5 (Copy sent for purpose of review)

I reviewed this here as part of a blog tour. I loved this cover and I thought I knew what I was heading into. However this book completely wasn’t what I expected and I mean this in a good way. It’s a tale of revenge with some intrigue and craziness and I think many people would enjoy it. You can buy the book here {affiliate link}.

A Year of You: A Seasonal Guide To Boosting Your Brilliance – 4/5 (Copy sent for review)

This was a short read but a good one nonetheless. I reviewed it in full here and talked about how it was a great reminder in how to be grateful and how to practise self care. I’ll definitely be utilising this more in 2021. Buy yours here {affiliate link}.

The Nilsen File by Brian McConnell and Douglas Bence – 3/5 (Copy sent via Netgalley for review)

I love a bit of true crime so when I saw this on Netgalley to review, I had to request it. I knew of Nilsen, of course, but not much and was interested to know more about him and his crimes.

This was a book that I couldn’t quite decide on. Some of the book I really enjoyed, other parts not so much.

I, of course, knew of Nilsen before requesting this book and knew a little about him and his murder victims but this offered an in depth look into the man himself and a little more into the victims.

The book was originally published in 1983 but was recently re-released by one of the authors after the others death in the wake of the popular ITV dramatisation, Des. In my opinion, some of the language and terminology could have been updated in order to appeal to today’s audience

Overall this was an interesting read. You can buy yours here {affiliate link}.

So this is what I have been reading lately – how about you?
