At a time when we all need our friends that little bit more, this book was exactly what I needed. To show appreciation for the women who have made an impact on our lives and continue to make an impact daily.
About The Book
From a very young age, Shari Leid was a checklist person. The former lawyer-turned-life coach and author did everything in order:
Graduate college? Check.
Go to law school? Check.
Get married? Check.
Buy a home? Check.
Have kids? Check.
Get a dog? Check.
Then, she hit her mid-40s and realized something was missing. After surviving a catastrophic car accident as well as a breast cancer diagnosis three years ago during Breast Cancer Awareness Month (October) that resulted in a double mastectomy, Shari took stock of her life and her relationships.
What culminated was The 50/50 Friendship Flow: Life Lessons From and For My Girlfriends [Capucia Publishing, October 6, 2020], her debut memoir-meets-journal offering a conscious path to not only maintain friendships, but to deepen those relationships.
The 50/50 Friendship Flow details the personal challenge the author embarked on by sitting down one-on-one with 50 friends over the course of one year to share the positive impact they had made in her life. Shari reveals that by taking on this meaningful challenge yourself, you will discover everyone you meet is both your teacher and your student, the feelings of happiness and enrichment as you deepen your friendships, and the purpose and life lessons each person has brought into your life.

My Review
As I mentioned above, this was exactly what I needed to read right now and I devoured it in just one evening. With us all needing to lean on our friends a little bit more right now with everything going on and the effects it has on our day to day lives, the importance of friendship cannot be disputed.
I loved the idea of the 50/50 friendship flow. Shari met with 50 of her girlfriends and told them what they meant to her and how they’ve shaped a part of her life. What I loved about this was there wasn’t just women of a similar age or a similar social status. There were women of all races, all ages, different types of jobs. She even spoke with her daughter about what she’s learned from her and I thought that was so lovely.
A little bit of appreciation goes a long way and it is nice to see the author appreciating her friends in this way and letting them know how she feels. I also love that it has encouraged some of the recipients of this to start the challenge themselves.
I really enjoyed this read and hope to read more from Shari in the future.

Sounds fantastic – going to add this to my wishlist!
I can see why you read it in one night, it does also make you think of what we learn from those around us and what they mean to us. Do we really tell them this, I know I am guilty of not doing this. I need to read this book now

This book sounds very informative and it’s also true everyone you meet is your teacher and your student – we are constantly learning from others and vice versa. It’s a beautiful thing. I’d definitely like to give this a read.

Sometimes things happen which make us reevaluate our lives. It sounds like Shari learnt many life sessions and it’s great she is sharing them with others in her book.
