Wondering what to get someone this Christmas? How about this fab book A Year of You, a self-care book packed with tips to be kinder to yourself each and every week.

About The Book

Providing a place for readers to reflect, find moments of calm and dream big, every page of this stylish book features a quote, activity or tip to inspire, soothe a busy mind and restore.

A Year of You guides readers through the seasons – decluttering your mind for spring, unlocking sunny thinking for summer, stimulating your senses for autumn and kickstarting cosy kindness for winter. The beautiful simplicity of the book means there is no right way to use it – you can follow it season by season and week by week, or simply dip in and out whenever you need a boost. It’s up to you.

The mental health benefits of mindfulness have been recognised for many years, but through lockdown in 2020 the importance of taking care of our wellbeing has become clearer than ever. This book offers a simple way to build time for your own wellbeing into your week – whether you have 60 seconds or 60 minutes, there’s something for you.

The pages are peppered with quotes from well-known writers, artists, actors and singers, sharing wisdom on happiness, hope and courage – from Vincent Van Gough, Margaret Atwood and Albert Einstein to Reese Witherspoon and Lady Gaga.

With simple exercises and activities to try throughout the book, this handy guide helps you to take back control of your wellbeing, by:

  • Colouring for mindfulness (beautiful illustrations to colour in throughout the book)
  • Practising gratitude
  • Exploring mindfulness techniques
  • Setting goals
  • Reconnecting with nature
  • Celebrating achievements
  • Embracing self-kindness
  • Destressing
  • Sparking creativity
  • Unplugging from technology

This is the perfect book to gift to yourself, a friend or family member this Christmas to help 2021 be a year full of positivity, creativity and brilliance.

What did I think?

I really enjoyed this book. It is a great reminder of ways to look after yourself and practise self-care. I loved the inclusion of quotes from various people – all from wildly different walks of life. In what world would you expect to see quotes from Oprah Winfrey and lead singer of Fall Out Boy, Patrick Stump?

Some quotes really resonated with me and I love the way that some of these quotes tied into the activities within the guide to help you practise your self care.

The book really made me think about things such as who I am truly grateful for, who inspires me and how to take back control – plus the illustrations are lovely! There is plenty of space to complete the activities and I have been slowly working through mine since I received it.

I think this would make a great gift as we head into the New Year for anyone who likes to look after themselves and practise self care or perhaps even could do with a little reminder of what they have to offer the world.
