As a woman who works for herself, I am always intrigued by and interested in stories of women who have gone on to achieve great things. However we all too often see the same stories being peddled – if the media had their way, you’d think there were only a handful of successful businesswomen out there and limited achievements. This isn’t the case though and Andi Simon has written a book, celebrating women in business and talking about the myths that are perpetuated in the business world and how they are smashed!

About The Book

In this book, Andi Simon tells the stories of 11 women from different industries who opened up the possibilities for their professional careers and personal lives by being authentic, taking risks, and pushing past the obstacles others placed before them. These are stories that tell of innovation, show how women rise, and ignite change. They are not just pushing past the glass ceiling. They are transforming our society.

My Review

I found this a really interesting look at women in business and how they have helped to change the business landscape. The idea for this book was born in the aftermath of her previous book when she realised there was something else, something more that needed to be said.

I found many of the women involved fascinating and even took time to look into them myself. From educators to anthropologists to innovators and more, plenty of aspects of business are covered and reading about how these women came to be in the position they are was really interesting and heartwarming. I loved that the book talked about their story then the particular myths that are perpetuated in that role and how these women are smashing them. It is lovely to see women smashing that glass ceiling and being the best at their jobs, even better when they are identifying a gap in the market and filling that gap successfully.

This was a great read for any woman in business and I found it really inspirational. If you like books like this, then you’ll definitely want to pick this up!
