Yep, I’m into the final stretch. We’re just about to head into the final quarter of a year before I turn 30…agh! I last shared an update on my 30 before 30 challenge back in January so thought it was high time I updated you once again. So am I any closer to completion?
I wouldn’t hold my breath. Here goes:
1. Finish writing my novel and hopefully get it published. If not, I plan on self publishing – Nope, I haven’t even touched it this year.
2. Hopefully have another child or two. Will have to rely on nature for this one! – Yes, this happened. Unfortunately I had a miscarriage before Olivia came along but definitely achieved this goal.
3. Finish reading through my entire Agatha Christie collection. I have had some for almost 13 years, oops – Still haven’t managed this. Don’t think I have even picked up one of her books this year….Oops!
4. Finally get round to meeting Sarah. It will happen, people! – This hasn’t happened but I’m hoping she’ll come to my 30th birthday party so maybe I will manage it.
5. Buy a house. This means a lot of work and a lot of saving. – Nope. But hopefully it shouldn’t be too long.
6. Completely clear any debt we have. Except for the mortgage if we buy a house – I won’t be heading into my thirties debt free but I’m working hard so hopefully it won’t take too long.
7. Finish re reading all of the Point Horror books – No..mainly because some of them are so hard to come by.
8. Get married. Because, you know, we’ve been engaged a while now – We still haven’t got married but we’ve been talking about it more recently.
9. Visit Greenway, Agatha Christie’s home in Devon – We may be popping to Devon in half term so this could possibly happen.
10. Make plans to go on the Orient Express. Perhaps this could tie in with a wedding, it would be a lovely honeymoon – I don’t see this happening at all before I’m thirty, do you??
11. Visit Highgate Cemetery. It really intrigues me – I hoped to visit in summer but it didn’t happen. I’ve still got a couple of months though!
12. Watch our complete DVD collection. We’ve got lots of DVD’s and quite a few haven’t yet been watched… – I still need to attempt this!
13. Watch Dexter from beginning to end. I never watched it all the way through but I really want to – I haven’t done this yet but I’m game for a challenge!
14. Finally finish watching Desperate Housewives all of the way through. I’m currently stuck in the middle of season 2 – Same as above!
15. Actually do something with my YouTube channel. I’ve made 3 videos so far but still not quite brave enough to be on camera – I’ve done stuff with it since I made this list but I haven’t uploaded content to my YouTube channel for a while now.
16. Visit the Harry Potter studios. I have no excuse, it isn’t as if they are that far from where I live – I still haven’t managed it but it is still possible in three months.
17. Go and see The Mousetrap, a play by Agatha Christie – I doubt I will manage this before January!
18. Go to a book festival. Because I love all the books – I actually managed to achieve this a mere few weeks after writing my list – read all about my trip to Paris and a literary festival here.
19. See Derren Brown – This hasn’t happened yet… surprise surprise.
20. Ride in a hot air balloon – This could happen…but I doubt it will.
21. Watch every single film on a top 100 list – probably IMDB’s – This is never going to be completed before I’m 30. Perhaps one to add to the 40 before 40 list?
22. See the Northern Lights. I want to travel more, much more – We’ve actually been talking about a trip to the Northern Lights but it will probably happen after I turn 30.
23. Go for afternoon tea with my Mum or best friend (or both!) – I’ve managed this! Read all about my afternoon tea at Moggerhanger Park here. I also went at the beginning of October to our local tearooms.
24. Write an article for a magazine or newspaper – I’ve appeared in a magazine and had writing published online so I’m taking this as a win.
25. Host a dinner party – Steve has cooked a few times for friends and family so yep!
26. Attend at least 5 gigs – Nope, this is a fail. I think I’ve attended one since I made the list.
27. Visit the British Library – No, I’ve barely gone into London so this is a fail.
28. Start looking into my family tree again – I really need to get cracking with this.
29. Go to see a musical in the West End – I haven’t done this but my friend and I are planning to do so this year, perhaps before Christmas.
30. Learn something new. Whether it is a new language or how to sew.. just something new – I’ve definitely learned a few more things along the way since I originally wrote the list but nothing as good as a new language or how to sew. There’s always time though! We shall see.
SOOO…
As you can see, this has been mostly a major fail! I can’t wait to see the final results in January!

At least you have direction for things you want to do even if you don’t manage all that many before you turn 30 x
Woooo I would love to come to your party! You have done so much on your list even if it isn’t all of it and yay for Olivia!
I think you should change your list to things you just want to achieve in your lifetime! There are some great things there but you definitely need more time to plan!
Congratulations! You’ve achieved so much! You’ll tick everything off your list at some point. Even it it’s a little after 30. x
It’s true that one has to rely on nature for a few things. Even I’ve had miscarriages twice in the past unfortunately.
I love your list!! I hope that you find the house of your dreams and good luck on publishing your book- super exciting xx
You still have time! I wish I’d done a list like this before I turned 30!
Wish I’d done a list like this before I turned 30, will have to make one for when I turn 40. Amazing what you have achieved and you could always add what you don’t do to a new list.
I was thinking of making my a 40 before 40 list but I’m don to just 7 months away
