We have been talking recently about where we want to go once international travel is properly allowed again and as you can imagine, we have got quite a few places on the list. Having a travel blog, you can guess we are very keen on travelling and there are a number of destinations that have been on our bucket list for years and a few more that we have added in recent weeks.
A destination that keeps cropping up is Santorini. It is a Greek island in the middle of the Aegean Sea and is absolutely beautiful. The towns are stunning and many people talk about the sunsets the island has to offer. Perhaps the most interesting fact about Santorini is that it had a massive volcanic eruption in 1450BC which cause the middle of the isle to collapse. This left a steep edged crater, otherwise known as a caldera, which peeps above the waves. It is a wonderful sight from the island’s clifftops nowadays.
It is becoming an increasingly popular destination – you only have to look at Trip Advisor to see why. It is a wonderful island to explore and there are reliable buses on the island to get you around if you are in need of public transport.

But why is Santorini a destination for us?
We Want To Watch The Sunsets
With their sunsets being known across the world, why wouldn’t we want to visit the island and watch the sunsets for ourselves? There are a number of places across the island you can sit and watch the sunset from.
The Amazing Food
With Greece itself being known for amazing food, it is little wonder that Santorini, a Greek island, is the same. There are some tasty local dishes that we are keen to try.
Take In The Sights
I have already mentioned how stunning the island is and that not only includes the natural scenery but also the wonderful architecture of the buildings on the island. Many painted in stunning whites, with dabs of colour.
Go Hiking
Something we have been doing more of when travelling is hiking and the island is wonderful to hike around, thanks to the awesome hiking trails it has to offer. There really is something for everyone on Santorini and the hiking trails have rave reviews on Trip Advisor. We could easily get our steps in hiking around the island!
