London is one of those cities that, no matter how much you explore it, you never quite manage to see everything. I am now twenty eight years of age, live around 25 minutes away from the capital by (fast) train and yet can’t claim to have even seen half of what the city has to offer.
Of course I have seen – and visited – many of the big London landmarks. I’ve visited the Houses of Parliament, I’ve crossed Tower Bridge, I’ve visited the O2 – both when it was the Millennium Dome and after. I’m still yet to visit the Natural History Museum, the London Eye, the British Library.
The beauty of London is that there is so much to do. There truly is something for everyone. No matter what your interests or your age, there is bound to be something to do. I love visiting Camden market, the kids are keen to visit Madame Tussauds, family members love Kew Gardens and who doesn’t love a trip down the Thames? London truly has so much to offer anyone of any age and this is just one of the reasons I love it. But why else do I love it?
It is often the place to do business
Whether you are a sole trader or one of the many corporations based in the capital city, London is seen as the hub to do business. I am quite lucky that I live just outside so it is easy to get into the capital for meetings should I need to as it is often the place where business meetings or conferences will be arranged. I’ve been to a few different conferences and awards ceremonies in the past based in London – it is always great to get together with likeminded people and network. Whether you are heading for a formal business lunch or an informal chat over a cup of coffee, it cannot be denied that London is a hub of business activity.
It is full of hidden housing gems
I’m not going to lie – I watch a lot of those housing shows – you know the ones where they pick up a property for dirt cheap and do it up to sell or the ones where they are looking for a house in a new location and have to pick from a few. Whilst London is full of different housing options, you truly can find some little gems, especially in the suburbs. There is some beautiful real estate out there in the capital city if you look hard enough and it is little wonder why some people are so keen to live there!
The shopping
Yep, I’m going there. There is so many amazing places to go shopping in London. I’m a particular fan of Camden market – I especially was back at the age of 15 as a massive rock and metal lover – and there are various other places you can go. Portobello Road, Spitalfields, Westfield – all places you hear people going to spend some pennies. You’ve also got those big shops that are London based that you just have to visit – Harrods, Liberty London, Hamleys. You can see why London, especially Oxford Street, is the place to go Christmas shopping.
The architecture
London has so much to offer in terms of architecture. You only need to look at some of the city to see what I mean. There’s classic architecture such as the breathtaking St Paul’s Cathedral or Westminster Abbey and then you have the stunning examples of modern architecture such as the Shard or the Gherkin. London has so much to offer and the capital offers a beautiful skyline.
London is one of my favourite cities – and it is easy to see why! There is literally so much to see, so much to do, so many people to meet. You can see why so many tourists come over to visit the city and take in the sights – you only need to take a look at Instagram to see the magic people feel when they visit the city.
