Where I Find My Interior Design Inspiration

Collaborative Post

Where do you find your interior design inspiration? Is there something in particular that inspires you or a whole range of things?

Age Co have recently reimagined Downton Abbey and it’s impressively decorated rooms with a celebrity style twist. You can check out the campaign here where they talk about how they imagine certain celebrities such as Mary Berry, Graham Norton and Joe Wicks (among others) would style the rooms. I have to say they are all gorgeously decorated and very impressive. You just toggle the arrow on the article and see the difference between the two!

But where exactly do I get my interior inspiration from?

I have never truly been able to get my interiors exactly as they want them due to privately renting and being restricted with what I can do to a place but here are just a few places I get design inspiration from…

Tudor Style

Now this style of interior design is a little difficult without the Tudor style homes and fixtures and fittings to match but it is definitely one that gives me plenty of inspiration. Partially exposed timbering like they would have in the medieval era, crimson reds and oranges and the odd embroidery or tapestry. Something to make you feel like you are living in medieval England.

Art Deco

My love of art deco comes from my Nan. I remember growing up and seeing the different Art Deco pieces she had around her home and poring through her numerous Art Deco books, determined to learn more about it. It was even the topic in my Art class that I paid most attention to as I was so interested in it. I have a few pieces around the home that I would consider to be in the Art Deco style and I love them.

Breakfast at Tiffany’s

Something I haven’t quite achieved yet but long to if I ever have the money or am in a home I own is to have a room that is in the style of the iconic film Breakfast at Tiffany’s. I love the film and love Audrey Hepburn and find both the fashion and the interior design of the film both beautiful and fascinating. Who wouldn’t love a bathtub sofa like Holly Golightly’s?
