I love books, you all know that. Luckily I have passed that love onto Jack and one of his favourite stories, just like mine, is Peter Pan. I love the story and find it so magical and I even love Finding Neverland, a film based on J.M Barrie’s life. We were recently asked if we would like to review The Complete Peter Pan, illustrated by Joel Stewart – a new copy of an old favourite, complete with beautiful and wonderful illustrations.
Now this is quite a hefty tome, what with it being the complete Peter Pan with illustrations, so a certain three year old won’t sit still for very long listening to me read. We have been reading two or three chapters every day or every other day (dependent on Jack’s mood) and he loves the book. I already mentioned that he loved the story but to hear it in such depth and detail whilst being able to look at the fabulous illustrations seems to be something he really likes.
Just how beautifully drawn are these illustrations? They really add to the reading experience and totally capture the essence of the story. I am finding it really magical, reading one of my old favourites as a child to my child who also loves the story. It proves that this tale, among others, is truly timeless.
I am very impressed with this book – it is perfect for everyone. Adults and older children can read it to themselves whilst younger children can also share the experience by reading this to them at bedtime and showing them the pictures. I really recommend it.
