It can be tricky to spend time as a family right now and will be even trickier once Jack goes to nursery. Whilst I work from home and get to see both Steve and Jack whenever I really want, it is harder for Steve and Jack to see each other due to Steve’s odd shifts. He has just started at a new depot too so we have a whole new routine to get used to. We’re hoping for mostly day shifts so that Jack gets to see his Daddy when he gets home from work – but who knows?
This makes sure Jack gets to spend time with both of us and we can actually catch up with each other – its hard to keep each other notified of everything when you barely even see each other!
We try to take pictures of our family time if we do go and do something special but it is inevitable that there is always one of us parents behind the camera – I couldn’t actually find a decent picture of all three of us together for this post, that is how rare it is for us to all be in one picture together.
With Steve at his new job and us planning to hopefully add to our family at some point, family time is going to be a big thing for us in 2015. I am planning a list of cheap or free activities for us to participate in over the next few months and I hope to document them here.
The benefits of family time are a happy, non stressed out family. Whilst the rest of the week or fortnight can be a utter shambles, I look forward to spending the precious moments with my family. It means I can escape from the outside world for just a little while.
