Although I am not attending the fashion show of St Albans Fashion Week due to lack of funds, I did take a trip into town yesterday to meet up with some other lovely bloggers Shona, Hannah and Sarah
for lunch and some shopping. Unfortunately, a lot of the launch events got cancelled due to the weather and Shona & Hannah actually missed the launch due to their bus being late! However, we still went for lunch and had a great time catching up with each other.
As you can imagine – the balloons went quite far because of the wind! Jack took great delight in watching them until they completely disappeared from view.

I also took the opportunity to wear my new Shawl Collar Cardigan from Damart. I was sent this a few weeks back and you all know how much I love cosy knits! I hadn’t had an opportunity to take any pics with it on – mainly because I’m useless as taking pictures of myself plus Steve has been working non stop this month! I don’t think Jack would be able to take it 😉 Luckily Shona stepped in!
I love how comfy it feels – I quite like it buttoned up but wanted to show you what I was wearing underneath – my trusty M&S dress! I was told by Shona that I had to wear it, so I did!
It was so nice to spend a few hours with some friends – I didn’t know if I’d be able to because of the weather plus I was waiting for money to come into my bank account! Luckily, everything sorted itself out although this does mean I am back to being frugal for the foreseeable future!
What did you do with your Monday? You can find out more about St Albans Fashion Week here, brainchild of the awesome Style In My City.
If you know me, you will know I am not as interested in fashion as others. I am the type of girl that will buy it if it looks nice and make sure I get as much wear out of it as possible. My one weakness, however, in the wardrobe department is dresses. So when I was asked if I wanted to give the Marks & Spencer Autumn Styling Challenge a whirl, I thought why the hell not?
Given the choice of a number of dresses in their range, I finally opted for one and patiently waited for it to arrive – which it did the very next day with next day delivery! Very impressed! You can also order online and then collect from store if that suits you better!
I decided to choose three looks: a formal look, a simple day to day look and a night out look.
I definitely don’t claim to be the most stylish and I did only change a few things around in each shot. Each look has the M&S Plus Swing Dress with wool which retails at £35. This is such a comfy dress and I can see myself getting a lot of wear from it.
(From L-R) For the formal look, I simply paired it with my trusty black belt (which actually came with a dress that has long since left my wardrobe!) and a simple pair of flats from Primark. I feel this is a perfect look for anything formal you have coming up – interviews or other such things – as it is simple and comfy.
The day to day look is my favourite of the three and I simply added a scarf that I bought from a charity shop years ago and a pair of wedge boots from Everything 5 Pounds and I was good to go! I can see myself wearing this combination a lot over the next few months.
Finally, the night out look! I actually meant to give it more of an edge with my leather jacket but that seems to have disappeared into thin air so I paired it with a plain black jacket and my new green wedges from Everything 5 Pounds. I wanted to give a splash of colour and some practicality – after all, you definitely need a jacket if you go out at night right now – its freezing!
Looking past the awkward poses and the lack of a smile, I really do love this dress and it can be styled in so many different ways. I know I will be getting a lot of wear out of it over this Autumn and Winter and it is a welcome addition to my wardrobe.
Maxi dress – Style Plus (this is the name of the clothing range, I am unsure where I actually bought it)
Shoes – F&F at Tesco
The pictures for this OOTD were taken by the lovely Shona from freshbeautyxox – we all took it in turns to take each others outfit photos so watch out for the rest of the girls outfits coming soon! Although it was really hot and black isn’t the best colour to wear in the sunshine, I was actually relatively cool in the dress – it was my face that felt on fire for most of the time!
I recently bought these flats for work, bearing in mind that I didn’t want to spend too much as I am leaving work in a month but also knowing that I needed them to be practical for everyday use too – for just £7, I picked these up and I love them! Cheap but practical!
I had a fantastic day at the meetup and we’re already in the process of arranging another for nearer Christmas time! I will also be posting about the meet; both the social side & what I bought over the next couple of days!
We finally took Jack for a little walk down the park today; the weather has been great round here for the past couple of days, I had the day off so we thought what better time to do it! I was recently sent this jersey t-shirt from Bench to review and have been biding my time until there was a sunny day to do so! I really wish I’d worn this on Monday at the #LDNBBMeet now, I really love this outfit! The top is just so summery, it makes me feel so confident! It is floaty enough to hide my mum tum but also not too floaty as to show everything off! Haha.
The shorts have appeared in OOTD’s before; even if I don’t post them all too often! I also posted about the boots a couple of months ago – they were a bargain buy at £7.99 and I have just noticed they have gone down to £5.99! I have been wearing mine pretty much every day and they are still in perfect quality!
I haven’t quite got OOTD poses down pat yet, I also seem to pull the stupidest faces when Steve is taking my picture – that will teach me for facing the sun! Jack loved it down the park, we have numerous videos of him playing on the swings, slide and the roundabout. I will have to get Steve to upload one!
For now, here is some pictures of my little terror zooming around (can’t believe he is so quick now!):
I’m loving Bench’s latest offerings – how about you?
Also, would you like to see more of Jack’s day to day life?
Let me know 🙂
How gorgeous are these tights? I was sent them to review by my lovely sponsors, Tights Boutique and at first, I thought that maybe they were a little…out there for me. I’m very unadventurous when it comes to clothes but as I decided 2013 is the year to start doing more and saying yes to more things, I thought I would wear them for my birthday and wow, what a reaction they got!
Almost everyone I saw asked me where I got them from and the confidence boost they gave me from wearing them was second to none; I haven’t felt that confident in clothes since long before Jack made an appearance in this world. I’ve still got another pair to review over the next few weeks, I just hope they can make me feel as great as these did!
Have you bought anything from Tights Boutique before?
