M&S Autumn Styling Challenge

If you know me, you will know I am not as interested in fashion as others. I am the type of girl that will buy it if it looks nice and make sure I get as much wear out of it as possible. My one weakness, however, in the wardrobe department is dresses. So when I was asked if I wanted to give the Marks & Spencer Autumn Styling Challenge a whirl, I thought why the hell not?

Given the choice of a number of dresses in their range, I finally opted for one and patiently waited for it to arrive – which it did the very next day with next day delivery! Very impressed! You can also order online and then collect from store if that suits you better!

I decided to choose three looks: a formal look, a simple day to day look and a night out look.

I definitely don’t claim to be the most stylish and I did only change a few things around in each shot. Each look has the M&S Plus Swing Dress with wool which retails at £35. This is such a comfy dress and I can see myself getting a lot of wear from it.

(From L-R) For the formal look, I simply paired it with my trusty black belt (which actually came with a dress that has long since left my wardrobe!) and a simple pair of flats from Primark. I feel this is a perfect look for anything formal you have coming up – interviews or other such things – as it is simple and comfy.

The day to day look is my favourite of the three and I simply added a scarf that I bought from a charity shop years ago and a pair of wedge boots from Everything 5 Pounds and I was good to go! I can see myself wearing this combination a lot over the next few months.

Finally, the night out look! I actually meant to give it more of an edge with my leather jacket but that seems to have disappeared into thin air so I paired it with a plain black jacket and my new green wedges from Everything 5 Pounds. I wanted to give a splash of colour and some practicality – after all, you definitely need a jacket if you go out at night right now – its freezing!

Looking past the awkward poses and the lack of a smile, I really do love this dress and it can be styled in so many different ways. I know I will be getting a lot of wear out of it over this Autumn and Winter and it is a welcome addition to my wardrobe.

What is your go to Autumn outfit of choice?
