I love a good print. What better way to announce summer is here than a bright floral? And even if the sun isn’t shining, a colourful geometric pattern is a great way to chase away the winter blues. For me, bolder is better but I love how versatile they are. You can go matchy-matchy, keep them understated or if you’re feeling a bit more brave, clash them for a totally on-trend look. Just be sure to keep your silhouettes simple and your accessories unfussy. I like to pop on a block coloured cardigan to tone down anything too loud.
Fever Designs London is rocking some of the hottest prints I’ve seen this season. I defy anyone to be glum wearing the Hanalei Bay dress; a retro 1950s sun dress in a vibrant tropical flower print. Sure, it’s daring but the flattering and nicely feminine shape keeps it from looking garish. The key is to let the print do the talking and keep accessories to a minimum. It is absolutely perfect for wearing while sipping pina coladas. Just slather on some bright lipstick for a pop of colour and you’re one step closer to Honolulu.
It comes in a shift dress version too, which is great for work and certain to shift the Monday morning blues.
These palm print chinos are just the ticket for spring. The classic navy colour means you can wear them as you please. Pair with a crisp cotton shirt, pointed flats and layered necklaces for a summer-ready but smart-enough-for-work look. Alternatively, pop on pumps and a white tee for relaxed weekend wear. I’ll be wearing mine with a clashing floral print top and a neutral blazer, while pining for Fever’s sundress version in palm green. How gorgeous is this oh so au courant colour? I can just imagine wearing it at summer garden parties with wedges and a fuchsia lip.
If tropical isn’t your thing, then the geometric Kula v-neck dress is a colourful alternative to floral. I love its kaleidoscope colours, and the super-flattering 1940s shape. Toughen it up with a leather jacket for eye-catching cool.
