The Pre-MOT Checklist You Need

Collaborative Post

The MOT is something I always dread coming around. Luckily last year we passed with flying colours but the year before cost us so much – I not only cleared out my extensive savings but we also had to use both Steve’s credit card – and mine. We’re both still paying off our credit cards and my savings account has never looked as healthy since unfortunately.

Motorparks have created a fantastic infographic detailing all the things you need to know, pre MOT – including the top reasons people fail their MOTs and how to make sure they work.

Now Steve is the driver in the family and is the person responsible for car maintenance – and I am pretty sure he doesn’t check everything listed on this infographic so this should prove handy in getting him to check everything before our MOT is due in August.

It is quite interesting that the majority of MOT fails are because of lighting and signalling – I actually thought suspension and brakes would be higher than lights. However, knowing that lighting was one of our fails when we had the massive bill a couple of years ago and not our suspension or brakes, I suppose it makes total sense!

Do you remember to check all of these? Have you ever failed a MOT because of something simple that you forgot to check?
