We were recently contacted by the team at Kids Toys Club to see if we would like to review one of their LEGO sets. Jack is LEGO mad – we’re even visiting Legoland soon – and also superhero crazy so we had to opt for the LEGO Batman The Batmobile Building Toy. Retailing at just under £50, this set is for ages 8-14 but Jack always completes sets with his Daddy so we don’t tend to take much notice of the age range – LEGO is for all ages after all.
The Batmobile comes with five mini-figures: Batman, Robin, the Kabuki Twins and Man-Bat. There are a variety of weapons including the Batarang and the whole set is over 500 pieces.
The set is great quality. There are plenty of pieces – small and large – but this makes for a satisfying build. There’s a reason the LEGO sets hold an age range as I believe Jack would have got frustrated completing on his own due to the technical elements it required but he had great fun with Daddy building it as per Daddy’s instructions and with his help.
The build itself took around three or four hours but I believe a teenager working on their own could complete it a little bit quicker. We buy our LEGO sets so that Steve and Jack can have some uninterrupted one on one time together and this set really helped them achieve that – plus with two avid LEGO fans and superhero geeks, they couldn’t have been any happier to put this together!
As aforementioned, the quality is great. We like to place our LEGO builds on our shelves to show them off; preferring to play with our other LEGO instead as these are simply works of art. However, we do allow Jack to play with them when he wants to – and being five years old, he isn’t always the most careful child. The set once built stands the test of time and withstood rigorous testing from Jack to see if it came apart. The only way I could see it coming apart was if Jack was to start literally pulling pieces off or he was to drop it from a great height. This is what you want from a LEGO set, a build that stays together.
So what were our thoughts? We loved this set and will happily purchase more – especially if they combine LEGO and superheroes. We love Kids Toy Club too for their consistent, great quality research on the best toys for our kids. Why not check them out?
