If your child is anything like mine, then they love to cause destruction wherever they go. One of Jack’s favourite things to do is pick up pens and draw…on everything. Anything he can lay his hands on usually ends up with a giant biro line down it! When Milly Green offered Jack his own doodlemat and placemat to review, I said yes knowing that he would really enjoy playing with them. I was right.
We were sent the Pirate Doodlemat (from £10.50) and the My Piggy Tractor placemat (from £8.50). These were perfect choices for Jack as he is currently learning animal noises and all I could hear was MOOOOOO and WOOF WOOF whilst he was doodling!
The placemat doesn’t have to be used as just a placemat – Jack much prefers to use it when he has his Doodlemat out as it gives him more to draw on. As you can see, Jack took to these like a duck to water and soon had little squiggles adorning every little bit of it!
These are very good quality mats, made out of corkboard and they feel very durable – they will definitely stand up to the temperamental nature of a toddler who may throw them across the room at any given moment. The boards are wipe clean which means these can be used over and over again – definitely getting your moneys worth!
My only little niggle is that I have to stay near Jack when he’s got these out otherwise I will have doodled walls too. He is very well behaved and sticks to using these when I am in the room, however he is keen to decorate everything as soon as I step out. Of course, that is a niggle with myself, not the product – especially as others may have children less mad as mine!
I’ve found these are great for teaching Jack to read and write too – he knows how to read and say the numbers 1-10 and the letters ABC and is quite familiar with the letters in his name too. He attempted to write his name (with my help) and this is what we got ^ – not bad, eh? He has definitely been coming on leaps and bounds with his reading and writing since we started using these so I would consider them not only a play activity but an educational tool too.
I would definitely suggest picking these up for the toddler or child in your life – they can have hours of fun with this and also may possibly learn something too!

I so wish I could of got Panga something like these when she was younger, never really thought of it and I'm sure something like them would of been around. The amount of things that was ruined with pen marks is just unbearable to think about, she's still quite nifty now with the pen but instead of my walls I find random notes written in books and notebooks! Great to see that they are helping Jack learn as well as being fun for him 🙂 xx
