With Buddy still being a puppy, it can be tough to know exactly how much activity he is getting. He is one of the more energetic breeds so needs a little more activity than others but it is also worth bearing in mind that he is still little and thus has some limits on how long he can go for a walk right now. We’d been wondering how to track his activity when the people at PitPat got in touch and asked if we would like to review their dog activity monitor.
Retailing at £39 (you can also add the PitPat Life subscription for £4 a month for more features), the activity monitor comes in this small plastic packaging. I love that they put dog not included on the packaging! The monitor was easy to take out and super simple to set up. It is small and light and the super strong Velcro easily wraps around the collar. It is easy to remove as well but is comfortable for the dog and doesn’t seem to bother them. In fact, Buddy has had it on pretty much constantly since it arrived – the only time he’s taken it off is when we take his collar off!
The monitor is small in design, black in colour and with an orange pawprint on the front. It is waterproof and uses the dogs natural gait motion to distinguish the difference between walking, running and playing.
The app is super simple to use – we managed to pair the PitPat and the app successfully straight away and it can read the data in a matter of minutes. All you have to do is tap the button on the app saying you want to fetch results and press the button on the monitor and then let it do its work. It is fascinating reading the different stats. You can see the stats for day to day plus their weight and badges (plus points if you have the Life subscription).
If you click on a specific day, you can gain more insight into how they’ve been spending their day. The app will tell you how much time they have spent resting, pottering, walking, running, playing – even how many miles they’ve achieved in that day and how many kcals they’ve burnt. Your dog can even earn different badges along the way by hitting certain milestones – Buddy currently has 9!
We’ve been using the PitPat activity monitor for quite some time now and I’ve been loving seeing exactly what Buddy gets up to. I am with him the majority of the time but it is hard to gauge exactly how much activity he is undertaking so this has been a fantastic resource.
With Buddy being one of the more energetic breeds out there, it will be handy to use this monitor and the app as he grows and see how his stats change. We are loving finding new places to go for dog walks and seeing what the stats say afterwards!
Overall, I am so far very impressed with the PitPat dog activity monitor and can’t wait to see more – Buddy doesn’t seem to mind wearing it and even the kids and Steve love pressing the button and seeing what his stats for the day are. I’d definitely recommend this to dog owners I know as it is a great way of seeing what he’s getting up to. You can purchase a PitPat dog activity monitor for your furry friend here for £39.

We have a 3 year old male collie/spaniel cross. He is full of energy so something like this would be great. He once ripped our sofa to pieces when we were out!

ah my Mum is getting a dog very soon! It’s quite small so not sure how much exercise it will need. This looks really useful though x
This looks interesting, we used to walk our dog 2-3 times a day, but my Mum was home. It must be tricky to know how much exercise a dog is getting when the owners are at work
