This post may not be of interest to some readers. It isn’t often I focus on child-based products on my blog, predominantly focusing on lifestyle, fashion and beauty products. However, as Jack grows, it is important for me to include him.
Back in January, I posted about my get fit mission Operation: Lose That Mum Tum. How well have I done so far? Well, you can mark that down as a complete failure. I decided to eat healthily, go for plenty of walks, carry on with my Zumba classes and use my Wii Fit regularly.
How did I do with each one?
Eating healthily – Believe me, I’ve tried this one. However, I find that I just cave in to temptation way too easily. I also regularly skip breakfast which isn’t great as I then tend to fill myself up on junk.
Walking – I try to get out with Jack as much as possible but with the recent weather, it has been a bit harder to get out.
Zumba classes – Much as I loved these, I just couldn’t afford the class every week. Hopefully when I’m back to work and earning a bit more money, I can take these up again.
Wii Fit – I try to do this regularly but my balance board has recently starting acting up. I’m getting Steve to take a look at it and then I’ll be back to my hula-hooping hopefully!
With mine and Steve’s bad eating habits (I haven’t lost any of my baby weight!), I do worry about how it will affect Jack. At present, he is having baby food jars and the occasional homemade pot when we actually make something of worthy nutritional value to him. Knowing of my eagerness to finally shift some of my baby weight and also to clue myself up on nutritional values for children, the lovely people behind Cheerios and Copy-Kids kindly sent me a few things to test out.
I’m not going to patronise you and tell you what Cheerios(*) are, I’m sure you all know what they are. As I rarely eat breakfast, I find myself often bypassing the cereal aisle in the supermarket. However, knowing I had a box in the cupboard definitely persuaded me to have breakfast rather than skipping it like normal. It is important that I have all the energy I can get in order to keep up with Jack as he changes and gets more mobile everyday. I used to think I didn’t have time to have breakfast with a baby but in the mornings I now tend to stick on CBeebies for five minutes whilst I have a bowl of these. I was never a fan when I was younger but these were tasty and definitely gave me more energy to clear up after a little wrecking machine.

I heard about the Copy Kids DVD(*) on a blogging forum and registered my interest early, as it is important that Jack gets all the nutrition he needs, even if his dad and myself aren’t as careful.
I am quite lucky in the fact that Jack seems to enjoy his fruit and vegetable purees much more than the sweeter options, however I am keen to try him on soft pieces of fruit and vegetable over the next couple of months and wanted to know the best way to get children to enjoy them if they weren’t too sure.
I’m not too sure where my fear of Jack hating healthy foods such as fruit and vegetables really comes from. I do remember a TV show where a child wouldn’t eat any at all and his parents went to see a specialist, who told them to let him feel the food and explore it himself before expecting him to eat it. I will definitely be taking that idea into consideration when introducing Jack properly to finger foods. This was a great, informative DVD and a must-watch for any parent starting to wean their child or having trouble getting their child to eat their greens.
Hopefully over the next few weeks, I’ll start noticing a difference in my body shape and weight – I really need to go for it this time! I’ll be using My Fitness Pal as a guideline and it’d be great if I had your support on Twitter! I don’t want to lose too much, just my mum tum. I’ll also be introducing Jack to finger foods.
Would this be something you’d like to read updates on? I always bear in mind what you think.
Let me know in the comments.

Love this post! I'm trying to tone up myself and I too have failed on the healthy eating front. However, I use just dance on the wii regularly and love this as it definitely doesn't feel like a work out! I've also got 'My fitness pal' which is quite helpful, it encourages me quite a bit 🙂 xx
I love the Wii, it really feels like I've done some good without working out 😉 xo
Good luck hunni xxxx
Wow-this is great Bex! Would love to try this on my kids too – its really difficult to get them to eat vegies. Thanks for sharing!
It's really hard to let kids eat vegetables, they would prefer meat especially chickens which is not healthy to eat them always.
