O.R.S Hydration Tablets | Review

Now I don’t know about you but I am awful for keeping hydrated. I’ll often go a long time before realising that I haven’t had a drink for a while. I take a bottle of water to bed with me as I get so thirsty during the night and if I don’t, I wake up with a banging headache and dry mouth from dehydration. When offered the chance to review some hydration tablets from O.R.S, I just had to say yes – especially as I think they’d be such a handy thing to have in the cupboard for when you’re feeling dehydrated!

We were sent two of the blackcurrant hydration tablet tubes from the Kids range and a lemon and a blackcurrant tube from the adults range.

As I mentioned, we were sent the lemon and blackcurrant tablets. A recent survey conducted by O.R.S Hydration Tablets of 2020 people living in the UK found that 89% of respondents rated hydration ‘essential’ to curing a hangover. They also found that 76% make an effort to rehydrate after drinking alcohol but more than half (51%) struggle to do so when hungover – only 3% actually attempt to replace the electrolytes they have lost!

As someone who enjoys the odd drink but who also forgets to keep hydrated during the day, something like the O.R.S Hydration Tablets are a great option. They are packed full of electrolytes – they have a scientifically balanced formula of glucose, electrolytes and minerals. These allow the body to quickly absorb fluids and restore your hydration levels back to healthy.

So what did I think of the tablets?

I dropped some tablets into a glass and watched as they started to fizz – as you can see, the blackcurrant tablet cause the water to quickly go a light pink before deepening to a rich purple colour.

It tasted great but the fizz took a bit of getting used to. I love fizzy soda but can’t get on with fizzy water so this took me a few swigs before I could get used to it as it kept fizzing even after full dissolving. I did feel much better, clearer of mind, after drinking this and it definitely left me feeling more hydrated.

Jack also tried the kids one. He is absolutely awful for keeping hydrated – I often have to keep reminding him to drink and he often comes home from school with an almost full water bottle because he just forgets to drink.

Young children actually have a higher proportion of body water than adults and are less heat tolerant, thus more likely to get dehydrated. I don’t know about your kids but mine are super active which makes it even worse.

Jack never knows when to tell me when he is dehydrated hence why I have to constantly remind him to drink something. These have been great for him when out in the garden as I can hand him a glass and I know he will drink it and I know he will be hydrated. Just pop them in drinking water and they’re super easy with no mess.

He really enjoyed the taste and actually enjoyed the fizz and has constantly been asking to drink them again and again. I am, of course, only giving them to him when I feel he is dehydrated though after an afternoon playing in the garden or something similar.

Overall we were very impressed. The fizz may take a bit of getting used to but that’s ok.

These are the only hydration tablets formulated to the WHO’S hydration standards and O.R.S is the official hydration supplier of Tottenham Hotspur F.C. You can purchase them through the O.R.S Hydration website at £3.50 for 12 tablets with free shipping. You can also buy them on Amazon or at Boots or local pharmacies.

  1. These are such a great idea, C used to be a nightmare with drinking when she was younger but thankfully is good now. I am terrible at keeping hydrated I do try but fail badly so these definitely would be great for me

  2. My son is terrible at drinking anything! I might have to try these for him, especially with the warm weather coming!

I drink about 2-3 litres a day but I often wake up really thirsty too x

  3. I get very dehydrated at night if I eat hard-to-digest foods such as gluten or beans. May be worth for me trying those tablets

  4. I’ve never heard of those before but that sounds like an interesting product to check out. My youngest definitely has a had time drinking water as she would often forget so this sounds like a great idea.

  5. I’m definitely going to check this out. I think my hubby would be keen to try one of these. Thanks for sharing.
