Both Steve and I suffer from asthma and it is very common in the maternal side of my family. Jack seems ever so likely to get it too and it isn’t something I would wish on anyone. Having an asthma attack can be quite terrifying and I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy.
Over the years my attacks have decreased to once every two or three months unless we are in hayfever season. Hayfever season is where my asthma really kicks in again and as we are heading into summer now, I am really starting to suffer with breathlessness. I’ve so far avoided an attack but I am aware that one can happen at any time so when asked if I would like to be a Nell’s Dairy case study and see if what others have claimed is true.
Nell’s Dairy produce unique organic Guernsey A2 milk. This milk is made using traditional methods and is un-homogenised; this, plus the special diet the cows are on, gives the milk a wonderful golden colour and a rich texture. Recent customer feedback has suggested that sufferers of asthma have seen a significant improvement and as you can imagine, the brand is very keen to learn more about this.
With that in mind, Nell’s Diary asked me to trial the milk for six days, sending me 4 litres of their organic Guernsey milk to see how I got on. I had to drink one glass in the morning and one in the evening and also use it as I normally would on cereal. So how did I get on?
Day 1
Having only started using the milk today, I am not feeling any different. I don’t tend to drink milk on its own as I am not the biggest fan so this has been a bit strange but not totally unpleasant.
Day 2
Having a glass of milk before the school run and one as I put Jack to bed, I’m still not feeling any effects of it yet.
Day 3
With the constant change in the weather from really hot sunny days to colder rainy ones, I am really starting to suffer with my hayfever. I found myself being a little breathless today and I can’t say this has had any effect yet.
Day 4
Again, another day where I felt some breathlessness but my chest didn’t feel as tight today.
Day 5
No breathlessness today. I’m actually enjoying drinking milk daily now apart from on my cereal- who knew this would happen?
Day 6
Last day today. Jack’s not very well and has been trying to sneak some of the milk! I’ve enjoyed this case study – so how did I fare?
*****
I’ve completed my Nell’s Diary case study now and I am interested by the results. Whilst I can’t say I have seen a drastic improvement in my symptoms, I do know that hayfever exacerbates my asthma and my chest hasn’t been feeling as tight and I haven’t been as breathless as I would usually be. Whether this is because of the milk or not, who knows? Its definitely worth trying if you suffer though!
I was sent the milk free of charge in order to complete this case study. All thoughts & opinions are my own.
