Jack was recently asked to review a product from the Mothercare website and in particular, from the Mothercare Toys range. We sat browsing the range for quite some time and Jack chose quite a few things before finally opting for this ELC Kitchen Set, priced at £25. He loves helping out in the kitchen when Mummy or Daddy are cooking and has often looked at kitchen sets in the shops. He was so eager for it to arrive and when it turned up after nursery one day, he couldn’t wait to open it!
The kitchen set itself is 44 pieces. With saucepans, crockery, cutlery and food, it features all the stuff your child could possibly need when cooking an imaginary feast for his friends. Since this has arrived, we have been subjected to different combinations of food such as eggs and chicken or just a random soup in the saucepan with all the foods in. I dread to think what Jack would cook up if we let him loose in our real kitchen with real ingredients – the results could be interesting to say the least!
When I say there is everything you could ever think of, there really is. A masher, a variety of pots and pans in different shapes and sizes. Enough for your child to whip up that imaginary gourmet meal they’ve always wanted to.
So what does Jack think of it? Simply put he has barely touched any of his other toys since this has arrived. He heads for it as soon as he gets home and its sometimes a struggle to get him to put it away in the evening before bed as he’s so keen to stay downstairs and carry on playing. He really seems to enjoy home type toys and I am thinking about what else from the Mothercare site I can buy him when I want to.
What are our thoughts? Well apart from tripping over it all the time as Jack always has it all out, everywhere, all over the place because he loves it so much, we are really impressed. All too often you find sets like this have minimal amounts of things inside for not very affordable prices. 44 items is one of the highest I have seen for a kitchen set and for £25 you really cannot go wrong. I will definitely be looking to see whatever similar items are available as this has definitely been the best toy of 2016 so far and I can see it continuing to be so for many months when it comes to my son.

ELC toys are always good quality. aren’t they? I love that this set has enough in it to ensure that kids won’t get bored quickly.
I’m not a fan of plastic toys for kitchens, I only buy wooden, however I used to work for ELC and Mothercare and I can’t sing the praises of the quality enough! H x

I used to have a kitchen when I was younger and absolutely loved it, always making my family eat my made up food so I can totally see where Jack’s enjoyment has come from. Such great value as well x
