A little while back, I was sent a memory foam mattress topper from Mattress Next Day to review. Now, with a four year old who likes to climb into our bed half the time, someone who works shifts and me in the household, our bed is almost in constant use.
We were sent the Essential high density memory foam mattress topper which is 2.5cm deep and works to improve the comfort offered by your current mattress to help improve your night’s sleep. This is something we definitely need as you can probably imagine, our mattress endures a lot with the constant use by Steve during shift work and Jack jumping in. The 2.5cm Memory Foam Mattress Topper is available as foam only (no cover with it) and is designed to slot perfectly between your mattress and your bottom sheet, offering that extra layer of additional comfort.
The mattress topper also uses your body temperature to mould to your body shape whilst you sleep ensuring the perfect position for your body. The resulting pressure relief helps reduce tossing and turning for an improved night’s sleep. So how have we got on with it?
We were sent the 5ft Kingsize (£34.99) although there are the 4ft 6″ Double for £29.99 and the 3ft single for £19.99, all available for pre order with 0% finance available if required and the option to choose free superfast delivery at the checkout.
So how did we get on? They say mattresses are meant to last eight years but I can see that this time period would be a lot less if in constant use like mine is. I suffer already from quite restless sleep so anything that claims to help me find the perfect position for my body and reduce pressure is always going to be worth a try from me. Steve is also quite a restless sleeper and the constant maneouvering cannot be doing ourselves or our mattress any good.
The mattress topper arrived promptly and was packaged well against the elements – good, since it is foam and when I took delivery, it was bucketing it down with rain! I waited patiently for Steve to get up from his night shift to open and show him then left it flat for a day or two like Steve suggested as it had been rolled up and was memory foam. A few days later, I placed it on the bed and it fit perfectly – it wasn’t too small and it hangs just ever so slightly off the edge so that a sheet can be put easily around it.
The memory foam is as you would expect, soft to the touch, and the topper is really comfy to lay on. Once a sheet had been put on, I was looking forward to my night’s sleep… I was even considering a little nap!
So what did I think after my first night of sleep? I was really impressed. It felt a lot comfier just having that little extra layer between myself and my mattress. I didn’t wake up as often as I would normally would which is great! Steve also seems to be sleeping better since we put this on our bed.
We’ve now been using it for just over a month and our sleeping has definitely got better over that time – less restless sleep and more deep sleeps can only be a good thing!
