My home office, as I have mentioned before, is currently a small desk situated in the corner of my dining room. Unfortunately we don’t live in a big enough house for me to command a whole room to myself but my little space works well enough for me. What I have realised though is that I do actually need to make some adjustments to make it absolutely perfect.
With the desk sharing space with everything in the dining room, it can be a tight squeeze at times and I find that I am also sharing other things such as the light. Our dining room has a chandelier style light which constantly has one of the bulbs blowing – I never seem to have all of them on at once and even when I do, it can be a struggle to get as much light as I need in the evening due to it hanging moreover the other side of the room, over the dining table.
I’ve been looking into getting some form of lighting to place on my desk, lighting that I can use solely for me and I’ve found some great options from LampCommerce – I’ve found some pretty, sleek designs that would work well with my whole desk vibe but which also don’t take up too much space. I’m particularly loving those by Artemide Tolomeo.
Each of these would fit perfectly on my desk without taking up too much desk space and they all look fab too. Even better, I won’t need to battle for the lighting in the dining room should anyone else choose to join me when I am working – more often than not, they do! I am often sitting at my desk late into the night working to deadlines and that means I need good lighting, especially with my poor eyesight! Being a work from home parent means that sometimes I have to do my work at silly hours (and sometimes in silly places if my computer doesn’t want to work) which means I need the best lighting I can get. Who wants to work in the dark?
I’ve been looking through various blogs to see how they style their home office spaces and what they have in the way of lighting. I love how Anna keeps her desk and like me, she often works late into the night so would need good lighting. Another blog whose home office space I love is Mandy – truly a girl after my own heart. I swear I could read about and watch home office tours all day long – there is something so fun about them!
What lighting do you have in your home office? Do you find yourself facing the same problems as I face sometimes? I really should get my lighting issue sorted or consider moving my home office back into the corner of my bedroom where it was when we first moved in. Do you have any lighting suggestions at all? What works best for you?
