Life In A Lockdown {Linky} – Week 33

Into another week of lockdown so here we are at week 33 of our lockdown linky. Born from an idea by Jenni and Sarah, I was super happy to come on board and take you along on the journey too.

The rules for linking up with us are pretty simple. All we ask is that you link back to me and Sarah in your post as we are the hosts and then answer the questions that we too answer every week. This week we have updated the questions to fit these new times so I’d love to see a few more of you joining up. Once you’ve added your post, submit it via the Inlinkz tool at the bottom of the post!

Here are the most recent questions:

1) How are you feeling/coping?
2) What have you been up to over the past 7 days?
3) What do you think the coming weeks and months might hold for you (or the world)?
4) If you could remind yourself something about this time in years to come what would it be?
5) What have you bought this week that others might like? Especially if from a small business.
6) What is a unique (or not) technique you have used to get you through this time?
7) What is something your readers might not know about you?
8) What have you been grateful for over the past 7 days?

So how has the past week been for me?

1) How are you feeling/coping?

I am really struggling this week. Just the other day, I received some awful news about a friend – news that I had been expecting but which hit me like a wave of emotion. I’ve not been sleeping very well because of it and have been talking a lot to friends about the situation who are also involved and affected by the news.

2) What have you been up to over the past 7 days?

I’ve been working non-stop it seems! I have been helping some clients with the launches of their new products, I’ve been working on ghostwriting and social media management for other existing clients, I’ve been freelance writing for a fairly new client and I signed a contract for a new writing client last week which has also taken up a lot of my time.

I also attended an online murder mystery event via Zoom to celebrate the release of Ruth Ware’s new book. Ruth Ware, Dorothy Koomson, Steve Cavanagh and various other authors dressed up as characters and acted out a murder mystery for us! So unique and so fun!

3) What do you think the coming weeks and months might hold for you (or the world)?

I really don’t know – nor do I want to think about it right now. I’m simply thinking about Jack’s birthday, picking up our Christmas tree and Christmas right now.

4) If you could remind yourself something about this time in years to come what would it be?

That we all pulled together and although it was a crappy year, it showed us who our true friends are.

5) What have you bought this week that others might like? Especially if from a small business.

I bought some personalised baubles for the kids from a local woman I know. I did win a face mask too from a local business, Amy York! It’s absolutely beautiful.

6) What is a unique (or not) technique you have used to get you through this time?

I’m back to the online murder mysteries again this week!

7) What is something your readers might not know about you?

That whilst I am the least sporty person now, I used to be on the netball, rounders and basketball teams at primary school whilst also doing football training on a Sunday! I wish that love of sport had stayed!

8) What have you been grateful for over the past 7 days?

My friends – in particular these blogging girls: Tanya, Lisa, Em and Sarah for literally just being there and understanding this week. They know exactly what news I have been dealing with as they have been dealing with it themselves and I couldn’t value their friendship more right now.

  3. I am so sorry to hear you’ve had some bad news. I hope you’re able to find some time for you to process this news. Sending love to you x

  4. Make sure you take some time out to deal with everything going on – working can be a great way to try and not deal with situations that should be faced head on.

  5. Sounds like you have had a busy week with all that work, glad you won the face mask and can’t wait to see what you have planned for Jack’s birthday this year

  6. Sometimes being busy is a good distraction from the lockdown situation. We’re not really prepared for Christmas and it’s going to be a strange one this year x

  10. I’ve been trying to support small businesses too. Lots have popped up recently selling Christmas items so it’s been nice to buy personalised items and support too

  12. I am so sorry about the news you have received. It really is never ending this year. It is lovely that you have support from your friends. I have been doing as much as shopping at small businesses as I can this year.

  13. Andrew Petrie says:

Basically I’ve been ok with this and on the positive side the lockdown has given me an excuse to sit at home drinking alcohol.

  14. It sounds like you’ve had a really rough week and I’m sorry for that. The murder mystery sounds fun though.
