Let’s Chat: Top 10 Films

I posted a Let’s Chat post yesterday and people were keen on me turning it into a regular thing. Whilst I didn’t quite intend on it being this regular, I thought that since I was talking about my top 10 films – why not turn it into a Let’s Chat topic? I have a mix of things in here and surprisingly, no Disney! I am a big fan of Disney but if I had to choose my top 10, these would be the ones!

Finding Neverland – This would definitely be my top film of all time. Whilst it only got average reviews, I personally believe this is one of the best films Johnny Depp has ever done. Johnny Depp plays JM Barrie and the film explores his inspirations for the story of Peter Pan. It is such a beautiful film, very poignant at times. Definitely one to watch.
10 Things I Hate About You is an iconic film from my childhood and stars Heath Ledger, one of my favourite actors of all time. I just love this retelling of Shakespeare’s Taming Of The Shrew and can watch this over and over again.

Avengers Assemble is one of my favourite films from the past couple of years – I never really watched many superhero movies until getting together with Steve and now I can’t get enough of them. Plus, the eye candy in this film isn’t too bad…

Out of the original and the remake, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory will always be my favourite. Whilst I love Johnny Depp, I much prefer Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka – he is how I’d expect Willy Wonka to be.
I first saw The Uninvited on my first date with Steve, believe it or not! I am not usually a big fan of scary movies but gave it a go and it has earned it’s rightful place on my top 10. Whilst keeping the scares up, the plotline also never slips like it does in a lot of other scary movies.

Coyote Ugly is a film I must have watched 15+ times. It is such an easy film to watch and each time you find yourself rooting for Violet/Jersey & Kevin and the obstacles they face. Great soundtrack too!

Most people panned this film but Music & Lyrics is my film guilty pleasure. Who doesn’t love Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore? Make Hugh a washed up pop star from the 80s and it makes a cracking film!

Edward Scissorhands is something I’d expect most people to have on their lists. ‘Hold me!’ ‘…I can’t!’ must be one of the most heartbreaking quotes from a film ever – if ever a film was to remind you that appearance isn’t everything, this is it!

Dirty Dancing is an iconic film and one I could watch over and over again. The storyline is simple but it keeps me watching every single time.
Finally, Bring It On. I could probably recite this word for word if I tried. Chick flick gold and something I am always keen to watch on girly nights in. ‘That’s alright, that’s okay – you’re gonna pump our gas someday!’

What are your most loved films?

  8. 10 Things I Hate About You is the only quintessential teen comedy from the late 90s/early 2000s that I watched a decade late and loved anyway. It's such a great movie. Love Bring It On too! And I'm generally fairly into superhero movies but the Avengers movieverse is by far my favorite… even though I haven't got round to watching Avengers Assemble yet.

    1. You must watch it soon – it is SO good!x
